I think I have this one. I've used it on my car and it works well. I do wish it came with some larger Allan wrenches, but I guess I can't complain too much!

You can usually find Allen wrenches at a Habitat ReStore for .25-.50 each.

Good tools with a terrible case according to the reviews. I have an old Craftsman tool set now with the same issue that I'm looking to replace. Unfortunately this won't be it.

I find this to be the case with most Husky tool sets. They ruin them with crappy cases.

I could live with a somewhat crappy case, but not a million 12-point sockets that I'd never use (I guess I might begrudgingly accept smaller 1/4" in 12-point).

This set is all 6-point though!
As soon as you look at the larger set in this series, it's 12-point crap everywhere - tragic.

Nvm found it.

Wondering if this is better? A lot less parts. Not sure if they are really worth extra for it?

What's the big deal? I have 6- and 12-point sockets and I've never broken any of them. People act like it matters so much, but it doesn't. I've never seen a six point combination wrench, and now there's ratcheting combination wrenches, and none of them are six point. If a bolt gets stripped, it sucks, but it probably needed to be replaced anyway if it was that bad.

There are plenty of 6-point combination and ratcheting wrench sets out there. I've definitely stripped some bolt heads using 12-point wrenches and sockets over the years. However I'm a very active shade-tree mechanic and DIY're and in the big picture not many. I've learned that if a 12-point wrench starts slipping, STOP and get a 6-point before you damage the bolt head too much.

Personally I prefer 6pt because they have been less likely to strip rusted or stubborn bolt/nuts. I have actually broken a couple of 12pt sockets, but I was absolutely doing things I shouldn't have been with them.....

edit: To your statement, you are absolutely correct, if it strips with a 12 it probably needs to be replaced. However, replacing it after it's out without stripping is preferable to stripping it while it's in....
