If you don't want to display the controllers, there are better options. But the special editions controllers do look cool on the matching stands.
It clips onto the Xbox using the front usb port. You don't lose that port because the charging station has a pass through USB port. While you play, it charges the battery packs. It's $10 and comes with two battery packs. Been using it for years. One battery runs out, you have another waiting.
Upgraded to this cause like you said, one is always charged and ready to go. But also, the light on the stand I had for a couple of years never changed color, always stayed amber, and the batteries just didn't seem to last that long.
- Every charge cycle contributes to the degradation of a rechargeable battery. Charging a battery after every session results is more charge cycles than charging a battery when it has been drained.
- Charge and play kits are only compatible with a specific controller model. Every time you upgrade, you have to buy a new one.
So this already-small battery will degrade more quickly than a larger battery you charge less often.I've been using some of the same eneloops in all my Xbox controllers since my original One console (started using Pros a few years ago). I have four batteries for each controller (I do a bunch of couch co-op with friends). When I get the low battery notification for one, I swap out the charged pair, put the dead pair on a charger at some point, then return them to the drawer.
