we bought a zojirushi rice cooker (made in china) from costco many many many years ago. it's so long ago that i replaced the coin cell battery that powers the internal clock.
I bought it from the last deal. Regular price is actually $50. Cheap but works. Only thing I'd complaint is the steam is not getting out well enough while its cooking. And it results with water inside and wet rice.
Is there any rice cooker that doesn't have the non-stick coating? I've only ever own cheap ones, but about a year in, the coating starts coming off, even when I'm careful not to use metal utensils.
Should come with plastic non stick rice scoop flat utensil. Never have problem with coating come off.

Very expensive rice cookers in Japan use non-stick coating. Not aware any of them are available in the U.S. market though.

it is still going strong after all these years.
You see the difference is that Costco warranty keep us more at ease. Vs Walmarts. But, I see what you mean. Will still wait the Korean made though. 👍

It does have a non-stick coating! I use mine once a week and the rice never sticks.

Buffalocookware makes rice cooker with stainless steel inner pot. They also make stainless steel replacement inner pots for zojirushi rice cookers.
Buffalo Cookware is a Taiwanese company btw......
we have had our rice cooker for 10+ years now. the non stick inner pot is still good.
I was looking for an alternative to the non stick coating also. I'm considering the Yum Asia panda mini which has a ceramic coated bowl. Anyone have any experience with this rice cooker?

Nonstick coating is fine since rice only cook to a little over boiling temperature.
