7.50-7.99 for a 12 pack puts this in the 4-5 dollar territory for a 12 pack.

I get this is the new normal but man this blows.

Because of the "new normal" with these ridiculous prices - I now get the Walmart brand soda - $1 for a 2 liter. Coke and Pepsi lost me as a customer for life!

I've been drinking Store brand for almost a year now. The taste is good enough that I don't miss drinking Coke Zero and the prices have been consistent at 1.25$ per 2-liter at both Giant and Safeway.

Dollar General has 5 for$5 2 liters regularly, sometimes 4 for $5. Choose from 4 or 5 types and seem to rotate. I stock up when it's RC Cola/Pepsi, Starry/7Up, Sunkist. Walgreens has some deal on 12 pack sodas and Arizona/Hawaiian Punch gallons. Easy pickup.

Right before Covid, then "inflation" started to skyrocket. Every grocery store had this price on any major holidays. Christmas/Thanksgiving/Memorial Day/July 4th/Superbowl.....
Note where I lived. At best $3/12 pack on sale.

Strange, I'm only seeing buy 3 for 25% off instead of 40%

Nevermind, I didn't read the 10/27 part

Has been a great way of deincentivizing drinking soda for me. So that's something.

Not right before covid...like maybe 2006. By 2006 or so, finding 4 for $10 regularly was becoming rare

There is a good reason. Please are fine paying $8-9 for a twelve-pack.
That's exactly the problem. Prices are more than double what they were and yet I'd wager sales volumes have barely busted. We're all too addicted to this stuff for the normal price/demand curve to apply, so there's zero incentive for them to revert to the old pricing.

Actually for what it's worth that's pretty much the economy as a whole right now. Economic principles that were reliable for all of human history no longer seem to matter. Compared to 5 years ago we're paying out the nose for just about everything and yet virtually nobody has adjusted their spending habits, so companies are making more than ever before.

When does this 40% deal become active? It's 1:35am EST, 10/27 and I'm still seeing last week's 25% offer still showing even though the 25% offer clearly says expires 10/26.

I did that even before pandemic pricing. There's barely any difference in flavor and for years you could get 2 liter jugs for about 75¢, sometimes less.
