3D Printing/Scanning has basically been a lifesaver for people with older cars, especially ones with relatively low production numbers and manufacturers who stopped selling new OEM replacement parts decades ago.
Also, budget racers can use scanners to create models of their vehicles for easy CFD modeling for aerodynamics testing without the expense of renting a real wind tunnel.

Are there any useful integration or compatibility features that enable this to work especially well with Creality printers and/or might annoy users of other branded printers (Bambu)?

I really want to grab this for some projects, but there never seems to be much middle ground between the social media influencer crowd with perfect results and the random end user that gets poor results.
Are any of these lower priced units ever worth it?
I tried a local makerspace, but they don't have one.

Bought one, thank you. Was already deliberating between this one and the Ferret. Excited to integrate this with my P1S printer. It's dong time.

I think modern iPhone Pros are better than Kinect sensors these days. RIP the good ole days of rigging a 3d scanner together using them.

Anyone found a good video showing this devices ability and UI, especially showing its limitations and problems?

Is there a favorite enthusiast group to help select a scanner?

I have both the raptor and einscan (but no otter). Both work flawlessly for me (towards the social media influencer experience vs. random reddit/forum complainer end of things). There's a lot of bad reviews of the creality software in particular, but I've never had any problems with it.
I'm convinced that most of the people complaining about these online are either idiots who can't follow basic directions or are trying to run the software on a potato instead of a computer that meets minimum requirements (which can be quite high for a 3d scanner)

There is absolutely no direct connection between the scanner and the printers. The scan software will give you a STL, PLY (+ PNG texture) or OBJ file with the 3D model. Depending on the model, you probably won't just print a 1:1 copy, but use the file to design something around it and make a replacement part that fits or something.
If you print it directly, it's just like a 3D model from any other source, so it works with any slicer software, can be a resin or filament printer of any brand.

How much ram does your PC have? Do you have issues with running low on memory when running one of these scanners?

Can I use this to scan a differential cover for my car , then use a cnc type machine to carve out a diff from a block of aluminum? I know I'm simplifying but this is something. I want to do

I've only used them with a PC w/ 128GB ram and a Macbook Pro M1 Max w/ 64GB ram. Both have been beyond sufficient for any scan I've attempted.
