Nice! Thank you OP - finally an AMEX deal good on my card!

Notes...

Equivalent of 6.67%cb ($20/$300 = 6.67%)

Best way to optimize:
- Buy two $300 gift cards in separate transactions.
- Use them on any normal purchases where your best cashback credit card doesn't have a great bonus. As an example, if you use it on a transaction where you would only get 1% cash back, using the gift card gets you an extra 5.67%cb. If you use it on an Amazon purchase where your amazon card gets you 5%, that's only an extra 1.67%cb.

How to add all AMEX deals to your card:

Use Chrome, on a computer (not mobile)
Go to Amex site.
View all offers.
Copy and paste this Javascript function into the URL:

javascript:btns=.filter(b => b.textContent === 'Add to Card');c=()=>{ b = btns.shift(); if (!b) return; b.click(); setTimeout(c, Math.random() * 300) };c();

Wait a minute or two. The function clicks every button that reads 'Add to Card' and it takes a couple minutes to run if you have 100 offers.
The function is secure. Your amex data is not being sent anywhere.
I have had a similar experience with AmEx gift cards where they get locked or there's a hold that prevents you from extracting full value from the card. Very difficult to use anywhere, and the service is terrible. AmEx outsourced their gift cards to some company and just slaps their logo on it, but the service is outrageous for AmEx standards. I would stay away, not worth the hassle.

I believe it has more to do with so many merchants deciding that amex gcs are not worth the hassle or risk. before my experience with them, I had a handful of declines on ordinary cards for ordinary reasons and you could feel the validity and sincerity of those declines (hey your doing something wrong; not quite right) but when you go to use the amex gc and you get declined, it's more like "are you kidding me?" as in (you want us to accept those? give me a break) LOL LOL

the marketplace sees these amex gc as a running joke, you can feel the decline coming when you put in the stupid expiration date into the next century. it's obvious as more and more places blacklist these cards over the months.
I actually called them about an Amazon decline and they said that Amazon declined it (kind of strange that the hold went on but anyway)----- I've used my regular AE cards @ Amazon before without issue and GC's should really be treated no differently than a regular card (except for the limit).

So yeah that's BS "the merchant declined it". Also BS "just spend it somewhere else". If only it were that easy......

Thanks for the idea. I'll check on that. I would usually just prepay auto insurance (they automatically refund credit balances after 2 weeks) but they won't accept expiry past 2034 and my card is 2035. Ugh.

I did this today and it worked. Add this e gift card to apple wallet. Buy any $300 gift card in walgreens using apple pay. In my case I bought Amazon gift card.
ok sounds like Walgreens took it. But we careful, when a merchant thru applepay declines, sometimes they send the message back that not only says decline but also which end up booting the card out of applepay and you cannot add it back. I'm trying to keep my accounts clean, not interesting is borderline fraud and trying to jack around with a useless amex card with a fictitious expiration date to ruin my applepay, PayPal, and amazon accounts trying to get it to work for a few dollars. Mad

I can vouch that you can empty the card on a medical payment. Did this on Friday and there were no issues with the full amount ($300). Glad I was able to drain it, frankly.

Problem solved:

Just wait 2-3 days after purchase and try again .
It worked for me 3 times already.
I bought 3 x $300 and was able to add to google wallet after exactly 3 days.

Im using it to purchase at trader joe and other places - no problem

Just received an e-mail saying that EPIC24 should give you "100% Off Purchase Fees and Free Expedited Shipping" on December 12 and December 13. The code currently is working only for 100% off purchase fees. Anyone have success using this code and getting 100% off purchase fees and free expedited shipping?
