Atomics are small and light. Not the best for brute longevity you'd have to assume 10 years from now. Good price. Not available from Amz at the moment. I'm in, broke my 10 year old unit recently and been running glued and taped.

Maybe a stupid question, will these take the regular 20 volt max batteries?

This leagues better. Spend $257, sell the flexvolt probably for $100. Sell the multitool if you do not want it but great tool to have.

I have no idea how this is not the deal to get from dewalt. They have had crazy sales the past 2 weeks but this is the play.

Different strokes for different folks. That deal might be great for you but maybe not so for others. For example, most people don't need a large hammer drill or an oscillating tool from the set you linked.

Personally, I like the smaller, lighter Atomic series tools. Also, while these batteries are super small, they are perfect for small jobs around the house. A year or two ago Home Depot had a deal around this time for Dewalt atomic drill, impact driver, 2 small batteries, charger, and bag plus a free tool (I got the reciprocating saw) for $150 total. THAT was the deal to get IMO.

How does this compare to the Milwaukee line of tools? M12 or M18 Fuel?

I mean... If you want the strongest stuff, sure. But that set's like $250+ extra up front, heavier drill, heavier batteries, requires HD hack, and selling some of the set to get it down to the same price. Some people don't want to have that extra money tied up and/or deal with getting rid of the extra items.
I have the 2 speed XR that's in between the drills in both sets and its been more than enough with a small battery in every situation except one, which it still worked, just a bit slower. This atomic drill is probably fine in most use cases...

I don't have M18, but definitely much more powerful than my M12.

Atomic is actually very powerful. I once drove a 6' (not 6") dirt auger under my stone walkway with the drill on max torque... battery heated up pretty bad but it got through the gravel eventually. I routinely drive 3-1/2 construction screws with the impact driver, without any issue. I do prefer my Metabo triple hammer impact driver than the Atomic impact driver. The Metabo feels smoother and generates less high-pitch noise.

For anyone wanting the next step up, this is the kit I'd recommend.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEWAL.../319429226

Slightly bigger batteries, next step up XR drill, and DCF850 Impact (still atomic, but very good and much more powerful).
This kit can be hacked down to $172 right now if paired with one of the $219 tools (which you return) for "free" gift.
