I bought the vehicle version of this (linked below), and the actual arm is metal. There are plastic parts, but (at least for the version I bought), the primary load-bearing element was indeed metal. Quite pleased with it so far.

I purchased this at the same price before a recent trip I had. It's very well made, dropped it a few time and is still good, would recommend.

Also bought the car holder. Feels very sturdy so going to give this one a chance.

Bought this last time it was on sale. Very sturdy. Use it to get a better grip or prop up a tablet like a picture frame leg using the included metal ring. Useful for attaching phone or tablet to airplane tray tables when there's no seat back place to put your tablet.

Well, I can definitely use this for the intended purpose of airplane phone holder, but I'm also hoping it'll hold up my Steamdeck with the included metal ring.

I'll test and report back!

I got something similar from Lisen. Magnets are strong but the hinges are weak so the phone just hangs. There are other brands where the hinges can be tightened with hex nuts. Not Lisen

I've been using this thing for a few months. Most of the time I clip it to my laptop side (where the MBP speaker is) so I can mount my phone. Need a larger laptop for that space though.
