I absolutely love Hisense. I don't believe there is any other brand that offers the same value, and affordability. I've been running their TV's for almost 10 years now. I personally own last year's 85 inch U7 model.

Pros:
Build quality. It's a heavy panel, at just a little over 100 lbs. The frame is metal and the panel is glass. This results in an amazing color vibrancy.
I would suggest a quality wall mount. Please make sure to hit a stud on the mount.
Value. You wouldn't find another panel that has the refresh rate, color, or size, for the money.
Subjectively, I love the color, it's so vibrant. Go into a store to check it out.

Cons:
Size: It's very large. If your room doesn't have enough wall space or depth to view the screen, it will be overwhelming to view or not as enjoyable for a viewing experience.
Hisense software with HDR. If you want amazing 4k quality content, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Netflix, please, use a Fire stick 4k, Roku, or Apple TV. Hisense does this weird thing where it will auto apply HDR and it will be too dark. If you are playing from another source other than the Smart TV you can work around this auto HDR.

Other than that, enjoy! Don't get stuck on branding. Do the other companies like LG, Samsung, and Sony make better panels? Of course. But, can those major brands make something as affordable and offer the same competing value? Not a chance.

Most TV "deals" related to BF are either special "door buster" models, which are mostly low end designs with maybe one or two bells/whistles to differentiate it from their usual base models, or it's clearance on even older models. This is a solid deal on a major, mid-tier brand (with aspirations). It's not a U8 or UX model, but it's solid for the price.

What is the purpose of this post? Only buy a Sony? You think Sony's don't have problems? Go ask BRAVIA 9 buyers how it's working out so far. There is no comparable Sony in this segment. And there are plenty of great TV deals leading up to Black Friday from all manufacturers. Choice is good.

85 inch panel with no local dimming is gonna be rough. I would probably just avoid it if you can't stand clouding/flashlighting as it's almost a guarantee with a panel this large. Otherwise colors will be great.

If you are looking for Black Friday TV deals then you obviously don't know much about TVs or care about specs. If you just want "big" then do that. I'll stick with my Sony, you pay more for the brand name, I get it, but I don't want to assume I'll replace the TV in 3-4 years out of necessity.
You said you pay more for name alone? You act like thats some kind of flex to be proud of. This is the type of thinking that makes the TVs massively overpriced. Do better SD.

Question for you boys. I need a TV for my basement pool table area. No movie watching, just the occasional sporting event and such while shooting pool or playing darts.

85" is too big for the space. I know its the next step down, but would this 65" Hisense be sufficient?

all the mofos expecting features from a double the cost spec TVs on one that cost 799 SMFH!

This looks like good spec and reviews for budget price.

I'm waiting for a dirt cheap 60hz 85" no special features for $500 lol

I love Hisense and have two of their top of the line TVs. This is a mid-tear TV in their lineup with so-so specs on RTings. I would get one of their top TVs.

both of those are mini led and have local dimming. so both will be better, the U8 ALOT better with their outrageous number of dimming zones

Perfect, I bought this at 899 at Costco a few weeks ago but minus 100 for buying second direct item so 799. Added a 64$ 5yr warranty. I can price adjust now for 799 as their site says it's 799 now.

Very nice, I don't think Black Friday is going to be much better than this price point for an 85" 4K 144hz tv

I'm holding out that the 85" U6 will drop close to this price soon. It's $1099 right now.

Bingo! Totally agree. You get what you pay for. I have 2 experiences with my Sony, with zero issues.

40" LCD - purchased in 2006, top of the line then, cost around $200 more than next best brand at that time --> Still running strong, unbeatable picture quality even now.

65" LED - purchased in 2017, mid-range of Sony lineup then --> Blows many current TVs in picture quality even now.

I dont use TVs built in app/features. I just hook up to apple TV & home theater & thats basically all my i/o.

My experience tells me:
If you buy yesterday-spec TV today, it wont last you long. The opposite of this is true too.
Better quality always pays in the longer run. This may be subjective for those who want new-every-few years.
You can shield yourself from getting technologically obsolete by using external i/o devices of your choice (similar to my setup) and you can get a stable experience with long life out of your equipment.

Thanks and Hope this helps.
