M12 fuel detail sander with 4.0 battery. Add the 2.5 battery as the free gift and the price for the sander/4.0 becomes $88.63 and the 2.5 battery is $50.37. Return the 2.5 battery and keep the sander/4.0 battery. I just bought the detail sander alone for $105 on clearance at Home Depot so this is a great deal!

Thanks for the heads-up on this one, OP. I've had my eye on this tool for a while but finally pulled the trigger on it with the BOGO and free 4 Ah battery.

Any reason to use this tool instead of the multitool with the sander attachment? Any advantages?

It has a rotary action so it doesn't produce the scratch-mark pattern that an oscillating tool does (plus it's a bit less cumbersome because of the smaller size).

Careful on speed 4 setting. Likes to crack battery cases. To much vibration. Stick to speed 3

Fantastic price. I have only used this a handful of times since I bought it, but it's surprisingly handy.

Does anyone know of a source for good quality consumable sanding pads for a good value?

M12 tools are very good tool! Only issue is that they will overheat when you use it too long! I would buy m18 if you are planning to sand your walls or a piece of wood!

I couldn't find any either. Just bought a 50pack of the B&D mouse generic hook and loop sanding pads and will just cut to fit

FWIW- I bought this thinking it would be a significant or worthwhile improvement over the multitool but it's not—at least IMO. I find myself having to use finer grit paper on both sanders anyway. When comparing the finish, I can't tell the difference. Also sanding technique probably has a bit to do with the outcome. The DA helps I guess if you have bad or terrible technique. Maybe if I lay some poly or a finish down, I might be able to tell, but if you typically prime and paint, I'd go with the multitool. I will say it's nice not having to change attachments and having a dedicated detail sander, but if I had to do it over, I would have saved the $ and space for something else.

I wish i could switch to a better brand. I just bought cordless 18v ryobi detail sander because i'm on ridgid with ryobi adapter. It is crap. Returning and will pick up something cheap corded.
I mean you can pretty much upgrade for free right now depending on the tool kits you buy. I walked in HD on Monday and walked out with three of the same dewalt tool kits. Kept 1 XR tool and charger or battery per kit. Sold all the rest cheap so I pretty much just paid tax for 3 xr tools, battery, and charger.

There isn't an M18 version of this tool.
