While this doesn't quite reach the level of the rare short lived price mistakes for 4070 supers between $525-$540, and can't match the past ymmv dell deals that required jumping through hoops with cb, credit card offers, alienware signup, etc., this is still a rather good value. Even on a good sale, 4070 supers tend to be at least $570.

An in depth review of this exact model can be found here: https://www.techpowerup.com/revie...per-verto/

The primary competition to the 4070 super is the amd 7900gre, which extremely rarely goes on sale for as low as $500 on an excellent sale. A good review comparing the two cards can be found here: https://www.techspot.com/review/2...-7900-gre/

Amd card's such as the 7900gre tend to offer better value in terms of raw rasterized cost per frame and vram capacity at their price tier, but you also miss out on some nvidia specific benefits. The main disadvantages to purchasing an amd gpu instead of an nivida gpu (off the top of my head) are: moderately worse power efficiency, somewhat worse (though still perfectly usable, at least in my experience) drivers, substantially worse raytracing performance in the same price tier (which starts becoming somewhat relevant in the $500+ price tier), no dlss (which is a more widely supported and substantially superior upscaler compared to fsr), a more limited feature set (no rtx video, rtx hdr, nvidia reflex, etc.), worse ai/ml performance (though the lack of vram hamstrings nvidia gpus in many of those applications), worse encoding performance, and a lack of cuda. That being said, for many gamers those disadvantages may not be sufficient to justify paying substantially more for a card with less vram and worse cost per frame. On the plus side for amd, the radeon adrenaline software is generally superior to the nvidia control panel and geforce experience imo, though it's possible nvidia's new beta "app" might catch up to it eventually.
At $555 I'd personally consider the 4070 super to be a very slightly better value than the 7900gre at $500 (which it very rarely goes on sale for), but if you play at 4k and can tolerate the compromises, then the 7900gre is definitely a viable option when its at least $50 cheaper.

I happen to have this exact model of 4070 super (I got it for $480 through a bunch of stacking dell offers), and while temps and noise aren't stellar I'm definitely happy with it for the price. This card is very small, being only two slots wide and slightly shorter than the founders edition. It is a "SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card" according to nvidia. As such, the cooler is much weaker than you'll find in the triple fan 3-slot monstrosities, and under full load might struggle in cases with poor airflow. In my system (which has excellent airflow), under a 10 minute 4k furmark 2.3.0.0 load that kept the gpu pegged to 220w the whole time and fans at 100% (based off the fan curve I set) the whole time, the gpu temp maxed out at ~81C, the gpu memory junction temp maxed out at ~68C, and the gpu hot spot temp maxed out at ~104C. It's worth noting that the delta between hotspot temp and gpu temp has increased by ~2C since I initially got the card, which may indicate some degree of thermal paste pump out. This is really only noticeable in torture tests though. Thermals never reach dangerous levels in gaming, especially with an undervolt, which I highly recommend. Acoustic performance is somewhat mediocre but overall acceptable to my ears. The fans get pretty loud at high rpm, but at least there's no coil whine after almost a year of regular use. Performance is just about in line with a founders edition 4070 super before tuning. The power limit is not unlocked with the pny vbios, though realistically the performance benefit to increasing the power limit is minimal and the cooler won't handle it well. You can flash a different vbios if you want to unlock power limits and/or have an overclock out of the box, though you should obviously avoid this if you don't know what you're doing. Pny offers a 3 year warranty with this card.

I found that my 4070 super took quite well to a pretty heavy undervolt/overclock (raising the curve and then flattening beyond the desired voltage, which takes more time to dial in and reduces max clocks, but yields the best effective clocks) and a heavy memory overclock. With my current absolutely stable uc/oc with some buffer built in, in the superposition 8k optimized preset benchmark it scores around 6160 while averaging below 175w of power usage. I can get a significantly higher score if I allow some instability, but I personally like to leave a large amount of buffer. The memory overclock is a decent jump in performance for basically free, pretty much all 4070 supers should be able to do at least +1000mhz unless you get really unlucky. In case anyone's curious to use my settings as a reference point, my 4070 super is absolutely stable and gains performance with a +1550mhz memory clock oc and a +175mhz core clock oc with the curve flattened beyond 925mv (the 4070 super won't let you set an undervolt below 925mv). This yields a meaningful performance improvement above stock while simultaneously cutting power usage by 40w+ in many games. You'll have to use the beta version of msi afterburner, the officially released stable version doesn't have support for the 4070 super yet. To be clear, you shouldn't just copy those settings and expect them to work since it all depends on the silicon lottery, but it can hopefully at least act as a helpful starting point. I highly recommend occt's 3d adaptive stability tests to test stability if you overclock/undervolt your gpu.

It's worth noting that Black Friday / Cyber Monday are coming up soon, so it's theoretically possible there'll be better deals if you're willing to wait, though this is obviously not guaranteed. Additionally, based off current leaks, amd is planning to release its rdna4 flagship in early 2025, and current projections are that it is likely to offer a meaningful improvement in cost per frame. Likewise, nvidia is planning to release it's 5000 series starting with the 5090 and 5080 in early 2025 (lower end cards may release later), though prices are likely to be quite high initially. While $555 is a good price for a nvidia card with this level of performance currently, if you're willing to wait several months there may be better options.

Wow. 😵

For anyone who is short on time a 4070 super is on par with a 3090. Usually around 599. This is a decent deal and 4070s is a solid card. Pny not really seen as one of the best manufacturers thiugh. 5000 series release early next year but who knows what availability will be like. Probably difficult to get.

I would get a better brand than PNY since I'm spending 600 dollars.
Rather go for 7900xt for 640 now.
