Do flat head screws work at all with an impact driver? Already having trouble not slipping with a screwdriver

For what it's worth, I have had horrible experience with Irwin impact bits. I use Irwin tools and consumables (knife blades, saw blades, etc) all the time without issue, but I will never buy another Irwin impact bit. They snap flush with the screw head under moderate usage.
