I think the 2024 Voice Remote Pro includes a new button that allows a Quick Launch style feature within the Roku interface. It has backlit buttons and supposedly improved battery life. Honestly not a lot different aside from the remote. The new one will assuredly benchmark a little higher, but I'd bet the differences are fairly negligible. FWIW I have, and still use daily, 3 Roku Ultras from 2018. I'm noticing them getting ever so slightly more sluggish with app launching, but it's not anything that really bothers me. We're literally talking a couple extra seconds.

I have the 2024 and I'm not a huge fan. The backlit remote is nice, but that's about it. The entire system is supposed to feel faster, but it really doesn't. Lots of bugs lately, too, although Roku is generally pretty good about fixing them. Not worth the upgrade from the 2022 imo.

I believe the new remote is also rechargeable with USB C vs the Micro USB B connector. I did a quick feature comparison based on the information I found online. See attached

FYI: I run 9 Roku Ultras in my house ranging from 2017 through the 2021 model. I have yet to get one of the 2024 models, but will be doing a test on one after the holidays. I almost always purchase my Roku devices on or around Black Friday.

I just finished switching a customer from satellite TV to streaming. They have three of the 2021 models as the new devices were not released yet. My only disappointment was the Micro USB charging, though the ones I picked up for them did allow the remote to be used while being charged.

These have as many ads as the streaming service you watch with them. So if you have ad-supported Netflix/Paramount/Hulu, you'll see those ads: this doesn't magically get rid of them.

ROKU also made a lot of people mad recently by forcing you into binding arbitration or they would disable your device (that you paid for) until you agreed. They already collect a ton of data about you, and now they've changed their terms to where you can't even use the damn box unless you agree to NEVER sue them or be part of any legal action against them.

How's Roku compared to having a Google TV when it comes to features and such? I have a Google TV that is pretty decent. I know this will be "snappier", but will I get Dolby Vision and Dolby Audio with this compared to the native Google TV that is baked into the television? I'm asking because I have seen some movies, not have Dolby Vision when I play with a streaming 4k player, but the same movie (usually Disney+ ones) when played directly from the TV using the Disney+ app on the Google TV have Dolby Vision.
