Would not recommend trusting your safety to one of these, they use sketchy parts and fail in dangerous ways. I'm still recovering from injuries after the front fender on mine failed and wrapped around the front wheel at 25mph.
Not worth the risk. Tried to get them to help pay for medical bills and I've been fighting them for months.

I have a different model (EP2-pro) but similar folding e-bike from engwe and have been happy after riding for 6 months. Could you elaborate on how the failure occurred and what part failed - this would be helpful for my safety and others too.. Is the fender connection to the frame weak and broke without warning?
I've actually been riding without a front fender because one of the bolts connecting the metal wire on the side to the hub came loose and fell out/ got lost. And I haven't replaced it so I took off the whole fender. When I reinstall I'll probably add a drop of loctite. But depending on your input maybe I won't reinstall.
Side story, different bike, different time but I once got a long screw stuck in my back tire while going 25ish? It circled around and jammed against my back fender, locking the back wheel with a simultaneous loud pop of the tube. Pedals locked and I thought I was gonna go flying but luckily it was back wheel and I just skidded to a stop. 100% would have gone flying if it were the front tire/fender.
My guess is that the frames are overbuilt to have a large cross section to withstand the combo of it being an e-bike + having a folding mechanism.
My biggest complaint of my similar bike is the weight. It's nice that it folds for the purpose of storage, but getting it in and out of a vehicle isn't easy for a 170lb 5'11 gym goer who can easily lift that weight. It's not the the total weight that's the problem, rather the awkward shape and balance and also the fact that it doesn't lock in the folded position. Not to mention you don't want to break sensitive parts by setting it down the wrong way. It's taken a bunch of times loading it to learn the best orientation and way to grab it.
Overall don't get this folder for portability unless it's infrequent. But rather, if the folding is helpful for storing it out of the way.

Yes, it broke without warning and resulting in serious injury because it was poorly designed. The two metal stays that hold up the fender lack any sort of emergency disconnect and the top mount is a piece of shit. ENGWE was warned about this and did nothing for months, most of the bikes are still for sale.
Eventually they claimed to improve the fenders on their newest bikes but they did nothing for those injured, those who will be injured, and the old dangerous ones are STILL FOR SALE!
Don't buy ENGWE but for those who already made that mistake, swap those bolts out for zip ties or better yet: Remove those shitty, dangerous fenders. Just because you haven't been hurt yet doesn't mean it's safe. If I were you, I'd leave that fender off.

*examining my bike closely now.
I did some googling since I wanted to understand the design failure. Sounds like it was the top mount of the rear fender that would break and some reported at very low mileage. I only see this in reference to the Engine Pro. It still isnt clear what aspect of the design is bad, and what circumstances may have resulted in failures. There are obviously also many that didnt fail so I wonder if its just poor manufacturing quality and quality control resulting in some defective ones?
I have this bike in green and it is a beast. I've put about 500 miles on it and it is still going strong.
I've ridden it on the beach, mountain trails in several states and all the little back roads in my home town. The range is excellent.
I've added mirrors, turn signals and a bell.
It also looks very cool and gets a lot of attention.
It is much larger than it appears. Has a rugged moped feel.
One thing to notice is that it has a TORQUE sensor instead of a cadence sensor. This gives it more of real bicycle feel when peddling. No problem with ghost peddling until you get up to around 28 mph.
I got a flat on the back tire (my fault) but that was easy to fix.
The folding option is not very useful to me and I've only folded it a few times.
My wife has the Engwe L20 2.0 and loves it. I highly recommend this manufacturer.
