And I remember people dumping their 2080 for like 300 bucks before 3080 released. Good times

Wait for next gen tbh
Don't even stay with nVidia if you are gaming. My dumb ass paid $850 for the 4070 Ti 12GB and it struggles with even 1080p.

So if no new tariffs are imposed by May 2025, does that mean GPUs SHOULD cost 25% less? Whether nvidia and amd will lower prices is a different story.
That's the idea, although it really does depend. First - I've read that our tariffs already resulted in GPU manufacturers raising their prices in some other countries because they realized they could get away with charging more than they were, so it's possible we've just set a new base price for the devices. There's a chance that instead of keeping the prices the same as the tariff expires, the manufacturers just tack the tariff that used to be paid by the importer onto their base price since they were able to sell them at that price anyway and it did practically nothing to spur innovation/manufacturing in the US.

Also, unfortunately, it's not impossible that the 25% tariff is renewed even under a dem president because while tariffs are generally unpopular, drive up inflation, and drive up prices to put into place, they're often kept in place when they're already enacted because they're used as leverage in trade negotiations and are an already existing tax on the consumer - that money is hard to give up to little benefit. That said, it's less likely that it goes up, because it seems the dems are in direct opposition to the 60% base hike on Chinese goods that the republicans are proposing.

My 2070 Super still getting me by, think I will wait for a $500 BF deal or at least a 5070 eventually. Am I wrong?
At this point if there is no rush seems like the logical move. 👌

Of note, regardless of what you think about the republican candidate's proposed tariffs, it's probably a good idea to start looking into electronics now to buy as soon as you can in the event he wins. He's suggesting a hike on the already-in-place China tariffs as well as an additional tariff on other countries. This will result in drastically more expensive GPUs (and other tech) either forever, until the tariffs are allowed to expire, or until manufacturing moves to the US.

There's already a 25% duty on GPUs alone, set to expire May next year, but some of the proposed tariffs (a proposed 60% tariff on all imports from China, or up to 20% on goods manufactured elsewhere in the world) would apply on top of that already-existing tariff.
Theoretically you could throw out your passport and walk back across the border now, choose a new name and get free accomodations, food and a debit card to balance out the potential future tarrifs. In the event "tarrifs guy" wins just go back to your old identity. That's a slickdeal right there. 😂

I think the low profile gpus go up to a 4060. Depending on the case you can still fit a large card though. Fractal ridge for example

What game do you guys play these days? I bought last year a computer with RTX 3070 ti for Diablo, but the game was so bad and I now just use the computer for web browsing… Video cards are getting expensive and there's no game to play..
Currently playing Indiana Jones, Fantasian Neo Dimension and Persona 3 Reload.

This seems…wrong. What CPU you got? I have a 4070 Super(very close to Ti) in my HTPC and I game at 1440p. My main PC has a 4090 and that's for 2160p. Of course it depends on the games you are playing and the frame rates you want etc
