Frequently returned item though. Not sure this cheap no brand safe is worth anything if it doesn't work as advertised.

Just a guess but I'd bet much of those returns are probably shipping damage and many others are people thinking the safe was much bigger than the photos / props suggest (even a DLSR will take up a BUNCH of room in the 1.2 CF version).

I like that 'frequently returned' tag but I wish there was some kind of metric due to the category of return.

FWIW the measurements on the Overstock one seem wildly inaccurate. Somehow the entire safe is 13.78" tall but the opening dimensions is 13.70"....yet the sizes(S) are at least 1" thick...each? LOL...okay Wink

It's supposed to be a fire resistant safe. I wouldn't trust my non replaceable valuables in anything I had questions about. Quality safes aren't that much more expensive.

On one side I agree if it is worth protecting, it is worth protecting correctly but on the other side the material even high-end fire safes use is basically drywall so dirt cheap regardless of brand. Plus I doubt any of the returns are due to people drilling open the sides of the fire safe and deciding the material used was not fire retardant enough.

The problem most of these cheap safes are going to have is lock issues; too easy to open, or failing in the locked / unlocked position. I had one that failed in the closed position, I thought it was going to be the biggest PITA to open but sadly I figured out how to break into the safe (destructively) within 5 minutes.*
