To be fair there was a revamp in leadership in 2018 or 2019 and quality is legit now.
Agreed, I purchased a Tobacco Burst LP in 2022 and it's been solid. Cross shopped it with a PRS that I was shocked with its poor QC (lots of overspray).

Beware that Sweetwater is now trash. I used to use them reliably for years, then I noticed that they kept sending me damaged products. I spent like $1200 on a guitar that they claimed was setup with a "12 point inspection", and the thing wouldn't play. The wiring was bad. So, basically, they didn't even plug it in to make sure it worked. Not even a "1 point inspection" lol. When I notified them, rather than replacing the guitar, they sent me a can of compressed air lol!! I kid you not. They expected me to spray the soldered joints as if that would fix the problem (it didn't). I didn't spend $1,200 to fix a guitar. I had to have the wiring redone by my local guitar tech at my expense which cost me an additional $150.

Something new on the product page "Your Choice of 2 Free Maestro Guitar Pedals" through mail-in rebate. Looks like the pedals go for $150 each but I've never looked into them before.

Yeah, saw this too- makes the deal really hot! Could sell the pedals easily on Reverb if you don't want them.

Something's not adding up here- I've never had an experience like that. The one time over the years I had an issue with a guitar shipping they paid to have it shipped back, sent me a slightly higher priced replacement, and added a bunch of strings/a strap/picks/and other goodies. Unless something has changed in the last year or so.

What's not adding up? How about I attach a pic of the spray can the sent me to spray solder joints? Did I buy that just so I could lie to strangers on SlickDeals? 😂

And also be fair, the quality issues from the mid 2000s to 2017 or so are very well known. They were cutting a lot of corners and it showed.

On the other hand some of the guitars they made in that era are super cool if you get one they made on a good day. Especially if you want a weight relieved LP.

These days all the Gibson quality issues people find are cosmetic and simply the result of guitars being hand-finished, which ironically is what they're paying that absurd price tag for. You also won't find any major quality issues in a guitar you buy from a respectable retailer like sweetwater unless it happens during shipping.
