The battery and charger are worthless, but this is a great deal for the tool alone.

Tool is horrible btw. Out of all the big brand this one vibrate more than my ex toys. Get Milwaukee m12 or Makita new model (starlock)

Well there is that, but if you're locked into 20V MAX then this one has the multispeed settings. Since I am also on Milwaukee, I sold my DCS355 (the predecessor to this one) and got the M12.

I like to keep one of these batteries around for low current tools and/or when I want my tool as light as possible.

A big downside of these batteries are the inability to sustain a decent current. The compact POWERSTACK (1.7Ah) is hard to beat. They are compact, light and support a high current draw. Of course, you pay quite a bit more for them.

For the 1.3Ah batteries in this kit, I might use one in a small worklight but, even then, the 2Ah has the same footprint and 50% more capacity.

To be fair, although I keep it around, I got the one for stupid cheap (free and rebuilt with cells I had), I would NOT pay for this battery by itself.
I'd value this tiny battery at like $10-ish

I thought this was a great deal. I don't need it at the moment. Should I return it or is there another I can substitute this with for the same prince range?

I have the XR and Atomic variants of this oscillating tool. Honestly, the Atomic version is superior, especially for around-the-house tasks. It's lighter, easier to use in tight spaces, and vibrates less. The XR version is unnecessarily chonky. I put Diablo blades on the Atomic version, and it tears through anything. As others have said, the charger is worthless, but I like having the 2Ah batteries around for light use and work lights.

no need to be locked into a brand anymore..amazon and ebay have battery brand adapters and your dewalt 20v can identify as a m18 or craftsman or any major brand.
