After doing the $5 sub I didn't see the Skip to Gold under my rewards but it was located on my main page of the Play Store app. Here is a screenshot of what to look for if you can't find it: https://imgur.com/a/iPHD9kR

Once I skipped to gold, the 30% off coupon showed up under Perks when you look at your Play Points by clicking the blue point total on the top of the main page https://imgur.com/a/DKZNsyg

Nice, upgrading and skipping to gold worked for me. Used some of the credits from preordering my wife's P9P. Got $699 trade in for my P8P. So I'm basically getting the P9P for free with some extra cash back. I'll take it.

The procedure described above (in multiple posts) works, to get 30% off. I didnt have Play Pass or Play Points, and was able to get P9Pro for just tax after trading in P8P. I did everything on my P8P though, through Play app, not on browser.
  • From the Play app on your Google phone, purchase Google Play Pass for a month.
  • Open your google play app, tap your profile picture, and tap play points, and click the "unlock" on the Gold tile in your Earn section. You are now Gold status.
  • I had to search around a bit to find the UNLOCK button, and dont recall where it showed up. I did close the app (by swiping up) and restarting the Play app, and the tile showed up
  • Close the app, you can clear cache here too if you want. I didn't need to.
  • Re-open the Google Play app, tap on your profile picture in the top right, tap Play Points section, and tap on the Perks tab. There, you can claim your discount code that will be applied at checkout for any of the Pixel 9 models, except for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. I had to make the purchase from my phone app itself
