A while back, my wife (who is a very good cook) decided to make a high-end green bean casserole. Fresh mushrooms, green beans, very labor intensive. Everyone thought it was "ok" and now we are back to dumping in a couple of cans of green beans and condensed mushroom soup because that's what everyone prefers. It's tradition.
The same goes for cranberry sauce. I prefer the gross looking stuff out of the can to the real thing. I'm not picky so I'll eat anything, but again, fancy or homemade isn't ALWAYS better.
