Dell Latittude is not the tank it was once. The precision line 5000 is basically what latitude used to be, and precision 7000 is what precision used to be line. latitude is now just somewhat better than inspiron. good for inspiron but a downgrade for latitude.

that said the specs are good and the processor is good. get a 1080p version with a quad core, and I would personally do 2x8 for 16gb and that's all you'll need. I have many laptops with 11th gen and I am quite pleased with them.

Pretty much anything from the last 10 years can run Windows 11. Bypassing TPM requirement is trivial. If it's got an 11th gen i5 or i7 and 8+ GB of RAM, it'll run just fine.

Yes. This is an 11th generation CPU and some 8th gen Intel systems work with 11. This is also the first mobile platform from Intel to support PCIe 4.0 so drives can theoretically be twice as fast.

So with Dell I'm just not impressed with latitudes in recent years. Unless you find a 2 in 1 convertible those generally are 1080p at least and have great screens. Atleast HP Elitebooks are also plentiful and similar priced and base tier is always 1080p

It looks like only 4-core processor systems are available...no dice on the 6-core variant of the 5410's.

Do we really need 512GB SSD?
Which will perform well.

There was an article by this one guy who ran Win 11 on a PC for three years despite it not having the hardware requirements.. one big takeaway from the article is that he basically had to reinstall Win 11 when there was an "end of year" update if the PC didn't support secure boot or TPM

Mind you there are those who argue a fresh clean install of Windows on a regular basis is a good thing anyways to keep your PC running smoothly Smilie

True, though TPM goes back as far as 8th-gen (and a select few 7th).

More importantly, Coffee Lake (8th generation)--with its support of TPM--has now been out for over seven of those ten years, so it's getting harder to justify 7th gen and earlier devices. The lack of TPM isn't the only downside; things like power consumption/battery life, maximum memory allowed, memory speed, supported drive read/write speeds, etc. make upgrading to a cheap 8th thru 10th or 11th gen device a great value for the money, and don't require any bypassing tricks to install Windows 11.

Given that it's not hard to find one (in laptop form) for dirt cheap...as little as $80-$100, those otherwise fine 3rd thru 7th-gen devices are living on borrowed time before they end up on the ol' e-waste pile.

And for a comparison....Apple's new Mac Mini M4 is available for $600 (or less).

Yes, it's Apples to Oranges. It's a desktop, not a laptop. MacOS vs Windows. And it's twice the price.

But if none of that matters to a user, you get something that's a legit modern CPU that sips power in a tiny footprint. It utterly curbstomps these machines in nearly every metric.

Compared that to these 3-4 year old Dell laptops that have been previously used and abused. And they weren't that great to begin with -- terrible 11th gen cooling/thermal throttling, flexing keyboard, and lackluster trackpads. And some of these models are 1366x768!!!! That's a joke of a screen!

The value proposition of these Dells just isn't there -- not at these prices.
