This is a fantastic starter kit for a non pro diy type. $199 is a solid price, however it may get down to 189 or even 179 between BF and Christmas with coupon codes.

Yes, it's brushed and yes brushless is better, but for a non pro, they'd hardly know the difference. I consider myself in the prosumer category, and the only tool I've upgraded from this kit is the the impact driver. And in reality, that was more about the compact size of the surge and the tight spots I'm working in.

I have other brushless and Fuel tools, but these get a lot of use.

All of the tools except the impact are excellent. The impact sucks - it will not drive a 3.5" deck screw into pine. I just don't find much use for it. The price is pretty average, but this same kit was available for a lot less than $199 for most of the holiday season last year so there's no reason to pull the trigger & buy now, hold off & wait for it to drop again. Or there may be a Fuel kit with bigger batteries come up at a good price soon... I guess overall this is an OK deal but not a really great one.

The Hackzall and driver are weak in this kit. Not good for much above diy jobs.

The Fuel drill and driver have been 199 with that ratchet or another tool on daily deals once a week at home depot.

This is great intel for those that prefer to follow the "buy once, cry once" approach and get a little bit nicer tools.

Some of thes are not the M12 Fuel, so beware. Fuel and fuel surge are where it's at with the M12 stuff.
