Great show, it's a Spin off of Buffy the Vampire slayer. Might seem hokey if you've never watched it but definitely a fun 5 seasons. And their last season 5 might have been the best of the series. A steal at $19.99

Great show, it's a Spin off of Buffy the Vampire slayer. Might seem hokey if you've never watched it but definitely a fun 5 seasons. And their last season 5 might have been the best of the series. A steal at $19.99

FYI, if I understand correctly, seasons 1-4 are SD and only season 5 is HD (HDX in VUDU/Fandango parlance)
[Still, I like the show and gave thumbs up on the deal].
Also, if you are new to this and you can, consider watching with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Angel starts after BtVS S3, and there are a few crossover episodes.

Good catch. I saw it had said hdx and assumed it was for all. I was also surprised because I didn't think they would have hd back then.

BlueScent7026 does understand correctly.

This show is fantastic work IMO--superior to the groundbreaking Buffy series that spawned it. Never been cheaper than this either. An easy buy If you've any interest in the genre.

Will streaming on a nice TV with one of those AI chips (like LG C4) make the streaming of this show any better than any other regular TV, or can processors not help these kinds of limitations?

Lol is this like True Blood where it's only good if you grew up with it? Cause I tried watching that and it was soooo hilariously bad. Super cringe with the early 2000s vibe haha.

I got this on an FP deal on DVD a while back, like 15 years ago... All seasons were in widescreen (upscaled to 1080p on Xbox) unlike Buffy which is all 4:3 SD... So the crossover episodes won't gel... But Angel was great as a stand alone show.

I'm glad I saw these posts because I bought it way back when it was only available in SD apparently and now when these sales happen it gives me an option to upgrade the complete series for $19.99 but when I go and look at season 5 I can upgrade just it for $14.99 so I'm kind of getting screwed if I decide to do the complete series upgrade

Cannot strongly recommend Angel enough - very fun series that never took itself seriously because it was a spinoff. Pitch perfect cast, great humor, some really incredibly dramatic moments. You're doing yourself a favor if you pick it up.

I watched this ~3 or 4 years ago for the first time and loved it. I did grow up watching Buffy, and since it is a spinoff, perhaps it was expected that I would enjoy the series (actually liked it more than Buffy).

If you think you'd like crime solving shows featuring supernatural beings, I recommend it. If you have Hulu, maybe give the first episode a go. The ending of that episode got me hooked.

Already bought it before I saw the post, $19.99 seems to be an all time low, but it hits this price somewhat regularly, so this deal will come around again if anyone is on the fence.
I grew up with the show and really enjoyed it, but it can definitely take itself too seriously at times. It's usually a fun show, but it reminds me a lot of Charmed or Supernatural with how they were pretty fun early on, but every episode felt like doomsday towards the end.

5th season is great, but I really wish it hadn't ended on a cliffhanger. Though the story is continued in comics at least.
