Tried it in best buy . It is very hard to grip. A side handle grip is a must.

The lenses it comes with is the problem. It is 20-60, 3.5-5.6 and made for S5. This lenses pretty much defeats the purpose of buying a compact camera like this S9. Panasonic doesn't really have compact lenses for this L mount. there is one 18-40, 4.5-6.3 that's all.

This is real tempting to replace my Fuji XT4 system. I like to create travel videos with family and lug around a gimbal to shoot. This could possibly remove the need for a gimbal since it has fantastic IBIS and I could then double up and easily take photos too. With my Fuji setup, it is a pain to shoot video and then take photos when it's on a gimbal.

Is full frame really worth it for a travel camera? I'm still rocking m43 like a weirdo creeper. G9 with a 12-60 Pana Leica for one lens one camera travel. For more discreet camera situations, got an Olympus E-PL10 with a Lumix 20mm.
I think it really depends on your situation. I too use an m43 for travel, a GM1, but as much as I love the thing, it feels stuck in the middle between something like this, and my phone. It isn't actually pocketable in any meaningful way. Maybe into a jacket pocket, but I'm not usually traveling anywhere that I'm wearing a jacket full time. That means I've got a bag, and once I have a bag the tiny size matters a lot less.

Who wouldn't know Lumix is compatible with L mount. I was initially talking about native lenses. There aren't even handful of compact/pancake lenses suitable for S9 in L mount lenses. I can think of maybe 1 or 2 max, 45mm 2.8 sigma maybe. do you know any other lenses that are small and light enough to carry with this camera? please recommend one then.
Panasonic should've come up with more lens choices when lunching this camera.
This is the biggest reason why so many people can't switch from Sony to this.
When Sony launched the NEX series there weren't that many choices either. I rocked the NEX-7 with a Minolta manual focus 50mm f1.8. The NEX is their first mirrorless camera bodies. If they build it, will people come??

I would recommend ordering it from the official Panasonic shop. Can stack the 10% welcome bonus and Amex cash back (if applicable).

Is there a point of having both lenses?
I plan on getting the 18-40 to pair with my Sigma 24-70 on my S5iix, but I don't think the 18-40 is different enough from the 20-60 to justify having two lenses.

One could sell/trade in the lens on MBP or KEH for a more compact lens
Since the 20-60 has been out for a while, they really aren't worth much. Trading in for the 18-40 would likely be a $200-$300 swing

Right now Panasonic website has the S9 kits with 20-60mm lens for 1499, and it comes with a free 26mm lens. What makes it even better, if you sign up on their email, they have a 20% coupon days ago.So makes it 1200+tax for the kit and a free lens. Good deal?
