With a dime a dozen type of comment too..

Folks, these are PELICAN cases. They're impact resistant and water resistant. They're a premium case, but hey, you want to buy a 10ct/dozen case from your favorite Chinese bulk site, knock yourself out.

I own several of these (CF, SD). They're great -- haven't had a single problem for years. So no, I didn't bother reading the reviews as I have hands-on experience with it.

So for the rest of us who don't own a case, what do you store your cards in?

Me? The original packaging.

Yeah but then how do you keep them all together?

Play it safe & don't go swimming with memory sticks.
A photographer out in the field could be caught in the downpour or accidentally drops his jacket or the carrier (containing his cards) in a stream or standing water.

All micro SDs and the majority of pro level SDs are all waterproof.

Hoard? No, if you care about what's on it you'll be periodically swapping them out to put the data in a more secure place. I don't carry extra cards expecting to fill them up, I carry extra cards to minimize the amount of stuff in the camera.

I used to think Pelican = awesome quality, until I got their Airpods case - the hinge broke under normal use, despite being "Military Grade". Got a warranty replacement. That one broke too. They wouldn't replace the replacement even within the warranty period and claimed that the lifetime warranty from the website did not apply.

I mean, it's not like SD cards are fragile and most of them are already waterproof anyway.

This case would just take up useful space in my camera bag. The zippered compartments in my camera bag are good enough to keep my extra memory cards in and a lot of times, I just wedge them inside my business card holder.

One scenario I could see this case being useful in is if you're shooting on location and have a second person you need to constantly be providing the photos/videos to. With this case, you can confidently chuck it across the venue to the other person and not waste time walking back and forth.

The reviews say that, unlike the pelican, it's not waterproof. So, the Pelican is better. In that regard.

On the other hand, reviews say the pelican doesn't hold cards in place.
The Pelican case is Waterproof? I see it as having a Water-resistant seal, not an actual IP rating for waterproofness

No, I clearly meant in comparison to the other model. I wasn't making some claim regarding it's having some sort of certification.

this is good for photographers but for the average person, not so much
Even for most photographers they're not needed. I just keep spare memory cards in the little plastic cases and throw them in the camera bag.

That makes it completely useless or worse.
