Generally speaking lithium batteries even lithium iron phosphates will age drastically faster when they are charged to 100% and left there at 100%. So in the case of a UPS battery, lead acid makes more sense because they work better when they are at the 100% charged mark for constant running.

You bring up a valid point, however, in my limited experience most UPSes that are not designed for LiFePo4 batteries don't tend to charge them to 100% SoC (state of charge), probably because SLA batteries reach 100% SoC at lower voltage.
SLA battery reaches 100% at 12.9V.
FLA battery reaches 100% at 12.65V.
LiFePO4 battery reaches 100% at 13.6V

My APC units stop charging when the batteries are at around 80%, which helps extend the lifespan.

I'm guessing this voltage difference is also what confuses some older UPSes, and they refuse to charge any battery past 12.9V, which would be only 20% charge for LiFePo4.

Still, if you happen to have LiFePO4 lifespan data at 100% SoC, please do share That would be useful to know for other applications.

For what it's worth, I've purchased 4 of these batteries for use with game cameras. They do not last nearly as long as my SLA batteries in the same size/format. I can usually get 3-4 months on an SLA out in the field and with these I get 3-4 weeks with the same camera settings.

You have a few options.

1) Distribute your devices across multiple UPS units if you can (e.g. one UPS for all the network gear, another for a PC and etc.). For a PC, use UPS that can hold multiple batteries. Check if any of your UPSes have ports for external batteries.

2) Connect multiple batteries in parallel. This will increase available current while keeping the voltage the same. This will give you 8-10A per battery, so 5 batteries should allow you to draw 400W or so.

3) Invest in a larger capacity battery. They have higher discharge rates and generally offer better capacity/$. You won't be able to fit it into a UPS case, but if space is not an issue that could be a great option. Some of those even come with Bluetooth connectivity, which is quite helpful.

You are correct in that most UPSes, especially older ones, don't have any settings for battery chemistry adjustments, however, once UPS reads that the battery is at 100%, it stops charging.

UPS figures out the battery state of charge by checking the battery voltage. LiFePO4 battery voltages are just a hair higher than those for SLA batteries, so UPS will stop charging the LiFePO4 battery before it is fully charged, assuming that the full charge has been reached. Look up voltage charts for various battery chemistries, and it'll make more sense.

That's correct. About 100W per battery (but probably closer to 80W in practice).

Actually, it doesn't really matter if the batteries are connected in parallel or in series. See example for two batteries below.

In parallel you get 12V * (8A * 2) = 192W

In series you get (12V * 2) * 8A = 192W

There is alot of information on this subject out there but what I don't like is I think there's so many variables and even misinformation being shared on over charging. I read some graphs say 50% is the max you charge lifepo4 and others say 80%. I saw some people say 70-100% and never let it drop below 70% 🤔

My favorite was Linus tech tips showed some scientific data talking about the lithium ion batteries in smart phones and his illustration showing keeping a battery between 30-80% significantly lowered the aging process compared to leaving it on the charger over night. Although a different battery chemistry, it is similar and both suffer from the same problem over over charging because it's harder to squeeze all the last few electrons in there and that squeezing them in there is what increases the age more.

Degradation is one thing, but I've read WAY too many reports of these lifepo4 batteries swelling up when left in constant charging conditions. I personally just don't think it's wise to suggest lifepo batteries in a UPS use case. The risk is not worth the reward.

What load were you running on your UPS. my UPS is 24v, so 10A would be 240W. Load is usually under 150W, so these might work for me.

What UPS??? It's a marketing BS. Battery has max discharge current rating 10A. 10A by 13V it can power maximum 130w device. Not near advertised 1500w. For 130w it's basically router and/or printer. May be low end notebook.
