Get these before the Trump tariffs kick in.
Except last time Trump did tariffs all vid cards went up 15% and these upcoming ones are supposed to be more.
That's a $300 difference...

People seem to say these are super loud and run hot. From the way the heatsink and shroud look, it does seem worse than Nvidia FE.

Yeah a single fan design seems like a terrible idea with the TDP of this thing.

NVM, apparently it has a fan on both sides... which is... interesting.

Its basically same thing as Nvidia FE with higher clocks. The FE is also loud compared to triple fan designs (other than Zotac)

A good deal if you need a card now / can't wait a few months for the 5000 series.

Everything I've read is it isn't coming until after the holidays... and the 5070 will have less buswidth and RAM than this card, for probably around the same price.
Wccftech reports that the RTX 5070 will feature a 192-bit memory bus with 12GB of GDDR7 VRAM.

Is it worth waiting for? Will you be able to get one at retail prices anytime soon after launch? Who knows... but if you want something under the Christmas tree this year it has to be the 4 series.

Why would you buy this when 4080S is readily available for $1000?
At the listed MSRP, I'd agree with you. But for $730 you get about 80% of the performance a little under 75% of the price. It's a pretty good deal for a very good GPU.

Personally, I would wait a couple months to see how the 50 series and AMD RDNA 4 GPUs shake up the mid-range pricing.

Based on the most recent leaks, the 5070 will only have 12GB of VRAM, as others have mentioned. However, there's a good chance that AMD's 16GB offering will have similar overall performance to this for under $600 (I've seen rumors claiming the 8800XT will be on par with the 4080 for $499, but I'll believe it when I see it).

New GPU architectures are on a 2 year release cycle, and it's been over 2 years since the 4090/4080 debuted. Additionally, Nvidia's CEO is the keynote speaker at CES in early January. It's extremely likely that the next gen GPUs will be launched within the next 2 months. Most people keep their GPU for 4 years, so I think in this case it absolutely makes sense to have a little patience.
