Yeah a single fan design seems like a terrible idea with the TDP of this thing.

NVM, apparently it has a fan on both sides... which is... interesting.
I think the reference 4080 cooler has fans on both sides too. I have the x Slim version of this card which has three fans. It's smaller in every dimension, has three fans, and never gets loud.

Why would you buy this when 4080S is readily available for $1000?
Why would you want 4080S if 4090 is widely available for $1500?

Seriously, everybody is talking about waiting a couple of months for these, but Trump wants to add a 60% tariff and MSI makes these in China. We the consumers are paying those 60% tariffs to import them.

I'm tempted to just get these now.

This isn't really a deal. You can get an entire system with a 4070 ti super for $1400.

Just wait a few months for the 5000 series. This is hardly a deal when 4070 Ti has been selling around that price since launch.

Because it's spending $730 vs spending $1000.

You do understand that tariffs are tools of negotiation, to make the other side adjust their own positions.
Except last time Trump did tariffs all vid cards went up 15% and these upcoming ones are supposed to be more.

People seem to say these are super loud and run hot. From the way the heatsink and shroud look, it does seem worse than Nvidia FE.
Blower style cards will always be louder, especially considering this has a higher clock speed than the founders edition. Blowers are always more susceptible to dust buildup which will limit airflow, and without regular cleaning will burn up your card faster.
