I strongly deter people buying these. I was their biggest fan, owned two, gifted i dont know how many. Like clockwork, two things happen to ALL of them. First (as expeected), the batteries start to go bad. But they go bad quickly, and barely hold a charge with daily use, usually within 6-12 months. i.e. they wont warm for longer than 30 mins, which is kind of about the same performance as just a regular insulated double walled mug.

Secondly, the coasters WILL fail. The charging is done by two extremely fragile metal pins (stupidest design ever on a heavy mug that holds liquid). The construction is very frail. I've had 4 coasters fail on me , and they typically fail right outside the warranty period.

After spending 100's of dollars with nearly 100% failure rate in these 2 departments, i stopped buying them. Do yourself a favor and just buy a standard mug with a normal warming plate, or just a good double walled mug.

I like these for my first cup but on 2nd cup when I drink slower, a pudding skin forms, really gross. Obviously from the whole milk I take in my coffee. I also like it set towards the hot side of the dial, like 142.

Got one of these last go around (~2-3 weeks ago). Had some staining in the bottom of the mug, not a big deal. Charged once and never charged again so I had to return it.

Yes, the proteins tend to start coagulating at 150 degrees, which the bottom of the mug reaches if you have it set to 142. Have you tried decreasing the temp to the high 130s to see if that helps?

Currently dealing with my second attempt a replacement for a refurbished Ember mug that won't charge properly. Woot has been great with the responses but it's really annoying to have this issue. Going to get a refund this next time.

Just FYI I bought the travel mug during the last deal. Arrived and looked great however it would not charge no matter what I did. It turns on when on the doc but shuts off when removed. Clearly not keeping battery. It was a dud. I now question the longevity of these things.

I lowered mine to 142….

Tried 135 but to me that's lukewarm.

Check out the reviews for the App in the App Store. After the latest update, it's impossible to log in (why are we logging in?) and pair your mug. I donated all of mine after having one for years.

I just got mine last week, and it paired fine. And, with how the mug senses when it's empty and turns off, I don't use the app anymore after first link. So...is this a new development since this weekend or something?

I bought a 10 oz mug last time. Now going for the 14 oz. Want to see if it's any better. Just a warning for those who have Android devices, I had to roll back to a previous version of the app in order to update the firmware. The battery doesn't last as long as I'd hoped even with a cover. The app is a total disaster, requires an email address and then a link to that email in order to connect to the mug. No battery issues to speak of so far.

These are a cool gimmick, but very poorly engineered. The lid for the travel mug is the stupidest contraption ever designed. Impossible to clean, breaks even without dropping just with regular use. The insulation is nonexistent, so a Stanley or Yeti at half the price will keep your drink warmer for longer.
The biggest feature is keeping the drink to your favourite temperature, something you can't get with just an insulated mug or a powered coaster.
However, the battery is underpowered, so regularly charging it means it will fail quite quickly. Then if out of warranty there is no battery replacement option as these things are custom!
