Downsides: The docking station requires it's own power adapter (wall wart) to power it and then also my laptops original USB C power cord so it can do the 100W passthrough charging. It'd really be nice if it only required one or the other, as requiring two power supplies seems redundant. The docking station has it's own internal fan. It's fairly quiet, but I still noticed it nonetheless. And it also makes me question the longevity, since fans seems to be one of the first things to die on electronic devices.
Surprise Upside: You can pop off the top cover and install a SSD (NVMe PCIe SSD or SATA SSD) into the docking station. I'm not sure if/when I'll ever use this, but it seemed like a cool way to either 'add' storage to your system without altering your PC, or be able to access old SSDs that you have laying around.
So far the only thing remotely similar to specs/price of this docking station is this Belkin, but it only charges at 60W: https://slickdeals.net/pco/1107269577/?src=rcm_disco_
