That said, I've only had the Foodsaver model from this post. It was a simple, fairly reliable vacuum sealer we used for a handful of years. The accessory hose clips in and through time eventually breaks. New ones are hard to come by. At $90 this isn't a great deal, but it's a decent unit. Based on Wirecutter reviews I'd lean toward trying the Nesco.

I have the #1 on that list (Anovo precision pro) and I think it is pretty awesome.
It's probably a limitation of all sealers, but the only time I have issues are when there are a lot of juices involved it won't seal properly because it can't melt the plastic bags well enough due to the moisture. If my meat is still pretty juicy I end up having to manually pulse the vacuum instead of leaving on auto. I just use some highly rated, cheap bags from Amazon to go with it.
