I still have the nest hello. In my very brief research, this camera has a worse fov and resolution than my hello. Which is insane. Only issue with my hello is the peeling issue. I'm on my third one because of this. Google has replaced each one. Not even sure it's worth reaching out anymore. So instead, I just bought a white cover for it off Amazon.
Poor experience here with this doorbell. Lived in Phoenix at the time. Covered walkway location. The NON-REPLACEABLE internal rechargeable battery went dead (as far as I know, all wired doorbell cameras still have batteries since the run on 24volt wiring, which is not enough to run the camera and ring the doorbell. The symptom will be the camera working fine, until the doorbell rings. Then the camera turns off since not enough charge to run both doorbell and camera without the battery. If you are passed the 2 year warranty, google treats this is as normal. Their customer service solution was to buy a new doorbell at full price. This was disappointing. Essentially, they are saying the doorbell has a 2 year service life and expectation is replacing the $200 camera every 2 years.
Additionally, they states that running the camera in my local automatically put it out of warranty. The shaded temperature of a covered walkway location was hot enough without even direct sunlight to put it "out of specifications" and void the warranty.
Incidentally, the technician logged into me doorbell remotely and could tell the max operative temperature.
Soooooo... I guess don't buy a google doorbell 2nd generation wired product:
1) if you don't want to replace it every 2 years
2) live in a warm climate or have the camera in direct sunlight in a moderate climate
(Incidentally, since my warranty was voided anyway, I pried open the doorbell and replaced the battery myself, which can be found on amazon. The weather seal gets ruined, so I CA glued it back together. It worked another 2 years until I moved).
I was thinking about getting one too, recently. Then I found out the resolution is worse. I don't see the point in upgrading to something with worse or less features.

Dang. I didn't know they'd replace for peeling. Is there a time limit on this. I think mine is years old now. And I bought a second I figure I'd replace it with. But if they'll cover it I'd rather do that.

Yeah exactly. Hard to justify swapping it out. So I figured I'd just cover the peeling up and be done with it until it actually fails.

Yeah they replaced it twice for me. One time I was definitely out of warranty. I highly doubt they'd do it again at this point. But I know it's just gonna literally do it again in a year so I'm not bothering anymore.

Excellent doorbell. I have it added to my Apple home app with the starling hub and it actually works better than native HomeKit doorbells like the Logitech and Belkin doorbells.
I do miss my nest hello doorbell though. It's actually better than this one in several ways. For one, it's wide picture as opposed to tall picture. I know they like to say it's to get packages in the picture, but the hello never had any issues and I'd prefer the wide view.

i have wireless… not wired but….resolution isnt great, it uses google home and im fine with it. I just think it could done better job with quality of video.
I have the battery powered one and it is excellent gets about 3 months worth of run time off one charge charges up in like 20 minutes and has almost 4K resolution
Even the wired doorbell uses a battery. If you hook up something to monitor the stream, the battery will die because it consumes more power than the wire delivers.
It's good for not needing a sub to view the video, but sucks that it can't record 24/7

No way it charges in 20 mins. I use a fast charge block and it takes about 3 hours to charge from 0 to 100.
The battery has degraded in the 3 years I've had it but still great.
I get about 3-4 weeks of runtime, that'll depend on how many occupants and guests you have and' doorbell sensitivity and recording settings.
I really miss custom ringtone for notifications, Google promised Alexa notifications and lack of chimes like Ring has.
Overall I'm very happy with it.

I regret buying this camera. The app is difficult to use and hard to navigate. You can only see the last 3 hrs of activity (not even recordings, just 30 seconds of detected motion). You have to buy a subscription for longer storage. Many times it records motion too late.
