The Ender 3 V3 is now on sale for $249 at Creality with a $50 discount code
LM4G1FZV from the Black Friday offers
page [creality.com].
There are three models in the V3 lineup, which can be a bit confusing: the V3 SE (the simplest and cheapest), the V3 KE (which runs faster on Klipper firmware), and the V3 (this one, without any extra letters), which is the highest-speed model with the most features. Creality has also announced that this model will eventually support their CFS multi-filament system, so it will have multi-color printing as an option in the future, like the K1 series.
The most unique thing about the V3 is the CoreXZ belt system. It's likely the only printer with this setup, and it makes the printer more compact since the X-axis motor isn't mounted on the side.

The A1 is $50 more. In theory and testing the two printers are really close but the A1 has a bigger build area. Other than my dislike of the forced ecosystem, the A1 looks like the better printer.
Thanks to a deal on here, the Flashforge 5M is a core xy with the same build area as the Creality. It runs $240. I have a 5m and really like it. Great print quality and very fast. It also can be converted into an enclosed printer using a $40 kit and about 1.5 spools of filament. Great if you want to print more than just PLA. Like all of these it has input shaping and supports network printing. It also uses USB drives if you want to do off line printing.
An advantage to the V3 and 5M is the common sized build plate. There are lots of options for textures etc. I tried and was impressed with the ones that create a rainbow pattern. They really do work.
If $250 was my price cap the V3 would be my #2 choice. The 5M is really good and is my #1. I don't see a quality gap but I get the advantages of a Core XY printer. The A1m is my 3rd. Good printer but I don't want to give up that size. If we include the A1 it would be my 2nd or 3rd. The bigger build area is good but I'm cheap ($60 savings) and I like the core xy. The larger build area is good but many pre made files have stick with the Ender sized build area as a defacto standard. That might change in the future with so many BL printers on the market. Still, it makes the larger build area a bit less of an advantage.
Only more exotic filaments need to be enclosed (ABS, ASA, Nylon, etc).

Creality printers have come a long way. Even the difference between a SE (which I used to have) to a KE (which I have now) is like night and day.
The K2 is out and you can buy it with the CMS but are they selling it stand alone yet?
Maybe better to wait for a bundle deal or is there one already?
Also how much is the V3 Plus with the code?
I am looking at getting the A1 combo but maybe I will pick up one of these too or the plus when it goes on sale again and is cheaper.
I love my SE so far but I think you need the KE at least for the CMS is that right?

It's a bit cheaper than the A1 combo. So for basically similar money you get a more compact package with faster print speeds and similar print quality. While the A1's multi color unit sits next to the printer, the 5X system is on the side of the printer and adds little more than a spool's width to the unit. It lacks the BL ecosystem though that isn't strictly a limitation on what it can print. Instead the workflow might be more complex if you are printing from BL's models (BL's website does have models that work with other printers). The A1 has a larger print area (256x256 vs 220x220).
However, the A1 can be had today if you have a Microcenter near by. The 5X is 3-9 weeks out. If you aren't in a hurry I would see what the reviewers think of the 5X.
Disclaimer: I have a FF 5M and really like it for the $240 it cost (previous deal around here).

I like that you can print enclosure panels.
That looks like a nice machine but not tested or reviewed yet.
But the biggest drawback to me is the build volume.
If they matched the A1 it would really be a serious competitor to the A1 combo sale.
Does this model have pressure advance like the A1?

The smaller build volume is a negative though not as big as say the A1 mini to the 5M. The 5M is the same build area as the Ender 3 and thus is sitting on a defacto standard build size. So many prints off Thingiverse etc will fit on the build plate. Where you will find a gap is when dealing with prints that are specifically designed around the BL print bed which is about 1/3rd the way between the Ender 3 sized and the 300x300 mm "helmet" sized printers. I've rarely wanted the larger size but my needs may not reflect yours. My brother frequently runs out of space on this 300x300 printer and considered a 400x400 bed. Certainly it's case by case.
