Does anyone think waiting for Black Friday would get a better price on this?
Hmmm tough call. I'm pretty desperate for a nice 18" gaming laptop for work, as I travel often. I was really hoping to be paying closer to $1500-$2000 though. Even though I'd call this nearly the perfect laptop, I don't think it's the perfect deal.
EDIT: Wait would Best Buy price-match for Black Friday (as long as it's not a "door-buster" or whatever)? Because I might just lock-in at this price and have them adjust it. I'm in love with this laptop outside of the price.

This probably has more than I really need (I don't game but want something top of the line speed-wise), but I have an open box excellent available for $2025, that's tempting.

The last gen laptop with 13980HX fell to a minimum of 2000 a few days after thanksgiving. Given that the MSRP for current gen is $100 more, I think the cheapest we can expect this current gen to fall to is $2100.
I bought this laptop Open Box Excellent. It is honestly great and a really smooth experience. I haven't really benchmarked it majorly but it works incredibly well for the functions I wanted (some gaming such as Call of Duty, Wukong, and random indies) and lightroom for photo edits. Just know if you are going to do any edits, it does not have an SD port so you will need to either directly connect your camera or buy a USB adapter.
Screen is amazing and feels beautiful to watch on.
This or ALIENWARE m18 R2 Was waiting on a good deal on alienware, problem I have with Alienware is that My last mx18 r2 (has to be 10 or 12 years old) and m17 (even older) can not find any batteries for it. I looked for last 3 years for a new battery and found 0. I have to leave my mx18 plugged in at all times.
So been on the look out for a new updated laptop with an 18" screen, Not really needed for gaming but I want the workstation power and video watching. My mx18 r2 still working fine and never even had to reinstall windows, still has win 7 on it with no issues but battery.
I found this open box for $1800 and it has been excellent. It replaced an Alienware m16 RTX4080 that kept on overheating (and therefore rebooting randomly) so I had to return it.
This is a really good laptop. The SCAR variant has mini-LED's in the 18" display that makes the display that much better but this STRIX is excellent. 500nit screen as well!! Highly recommend
