Hi, thanks for pointing this out. Are you talking about some different Core i7 processor than 1355U? This site has rated Core 7 150U higher than Core i7 1355U.

Core 7 150u is the same old technology as 13 Gen and not much different from 12 Gen. Core ultra 7 155u is the new 14 Gen stuff, but being a U processor it is still very much crippled. Then there is the 15 Gen being released now but those are not on the market yet.

I was not sure what "WVA" screen meant (IPS or VA) for this particular laptop, so I called DELL and they said it's not IPS. I provided them model# i5640-7519BLU-PUS from Costco's Website.

I read somewhere (?) that WVA to Dell means "wide viewing angle". If you shop for similar machines on Dell's website, you will be offered this as a display:
16", Touch, FHD+ 1920x1200, 60Hz, WVA, IPS, 300 nit, ComfortView Plus.
Which seems to match the Costco description, so you are probably getting IPS.

So I am just curious. What cpu is going to be replacing these types of laptops in the future? Lunar lake is an 8 core CPU. Arrow lake will be a higher wattage cpu than lunar lake so it won't be in the ultra portable laptops. The laptops like this between ultra thin and workstation are what I wonder about. Will pretty much all previous 10 core i7s just use lunar lake and then anything a bit beefier gets arrow lake at 10 and 12 cores?

Yes, WVA does mean Wide Viewing Angle. It's the type of screen they use is what I wasn't sure of. I wish Costco's website clearly listed IPS or not - they do say it clearly for their HP laptops! This one could very well be IPS, but talking with Dell and them saying "no" really dented my confidence, and that's why I decided to pass on it.

I was looking for a similar laptops. I found the Dell Inspiron 16 2 in 1 to be better value in terms of CPU (new gen) and port selections.
