If I'm to believe their promotion, these are the Black Friday prices:

"Subscribe to unlock exclusive early bird discounts. Enjoy Black Friday prices before anyone else."

This is the best price I've seen for the 12 yet if you don't count unwanted accessories, so I jumped on the 16 GB RAM + 512 GB Storage model.

$700 with tax after almost a year is not a deal in my opinion

People seemed to like the same model + some earbuds for $700 before tax 70 days ago: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/993768

Figured I'd share, especially with the 12GB being that low 🤷

Supposedly the OnePlus 13 is being announced this month for release in January'ish. I wonder how much that will impact prices on this phone if we waited another 2 months... hmm.

I considered this too. You could probably get a better deal months from now tbh. Also there's wondering if you should get the 12 if the 13 is much better. I'm upgrading from an 8 pro so I finally figured I'd just pull the trigger.

I read that a lot of the new features on the 13 are gimicky, but supposedly it has a flat screen... which is nice for tempered glass screen protector ease of application. The CPU is supposed to be much more efficient and like 30% faster than the 12 and battery is 600 Mah greater in capacity.

Not really. When they do these deals they remove the student/edu discount. Every Monday they come up with different combinations of deals such as free upgrade, trade in bonus, free tablet, watch, ear buds pro, etc. But the price remains almost the same unless you can sell the free stuff.

The specs look great on paper but in practice the phone doesn't deliver on the goods. Phone battery is crap. There is clearly something wrong with their software. Even though it aggressively forces battery optimizations on apps and seems to ignore certain exclusions, the battery life is a joke when doing basic web browsing, local media playback with the screen off. Too many nag prompts & behaviors that can't be disabled and no way to fine tuned the phone to my unique needs. Notifications are glitchy. Sometimes I get ghost notifications or a notification doesn't come through at all. This is not what I expected for my first $800+ purchase of a flagship phone. I may have gotten a lemon but I won't ever know because I can't compare it with a replacement OnePlus because 1 month later I'm still fighting with OnePlus to get a shipping label for a refund. I've got my credit card company and the BBB involved. This is the last time I ever buy directly from OnePlus or their phone for that matter. Read the nightmare stories online. My story is not unique but the average users experience.

There's no deal, here. This is more expensive than several months ago.
12R is virtually the same phone, too.
