Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Instalment plan already shows up on my AT&T account, can't pay it yet tho. Shows I owe $209 since I did a $90 down payment.

What's the best way to purchase multiple of these phones? Can it be done using a single identity?

You have to turn on the phone to get the phone+simcard/esim activated together. If this did not happen then the timer will never triggered.
Yeah, a little concerned about the esim only with the 14. I want keep using my current phone until I'm ready to switch. With the sim card, I could activate and move the card to the old phone. With esim, once the 14 is activated, not sure how difficult it would be to get the number back to the old phone's sim...

Am I supposed to get an email from Verizon to set up an account before the phone gets delivered?

So the order of steps are:

Order phone
Go in store and pay off the phone
Before 3 days after activation cancel the Verizon line

so what happens if you are unable to pay off the phone in store is what I am curious about
Nothing. Then you have to wait for 30 days to pay off online. But should be able to payoff at store easily.

Crap, wouldn't let me upgrade online, have to make a trip to a store tomorrow.
Double crap. It says online only, may have to wait until 11/15 to get it in a store...

Sorry for another question, with Verizon, paying at the store, can we pay it at the kiosk or do we have to pay it with the help of a Verizon worker ?

Ordered a Verizon model. Does the phone have to remain active for 60 days to become unlocked after pay off? I'm worried they will not unlock it if I pay off the phone and immediately cancel. This is unclear.

I just got the iPhone 16 free loyalty promotion after 36 months. Decided to Pay the $100 extra for 256gb model. Only downside was to trade in my old 12 mini but still managed to keep the same $27 unlimited welcome plan. Overall, Pretty good deal .
How did you get $27 welcome unlimited? How many lines do you have?

Will Verizon unlock the phone after 60 days if you payoff and cancel like people are discussing here? The policy seems to imply it must remain active for 60 days to be eligible for unlock which would effectively kill this as being a good deal… I'm afraid to cancel the service and be stuck with a brick.
