Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

I'm confused on what the deal is here? Can't you get a free iPhone 16 if you are adding a line? 3 year financing on a model that is 2 years old?
Is it a promotion for Verizon only? Cause I don't see it on ATT

Not everybody wants to add a line. I have 4 lines with Tmobile for $85 so I'm not looking to switch. The deal is you get IP14 with 256gb for $299 ++

You are only financing $299 with this deal and can pay it off early. The other free offers are bill credits and you are still financing the full amount of $1K+. You only get the Iphone 16 "free" if you stay with them for 36 months.

Do you have to open the box to pay off and cancel? Thanks for sharing.

Activated on shipping. The two I ordered shipped yesterday and today I got the email from Verizon. Logged into the account and sure enough, both devices have phone numbers assigned and show activation date of yesterday.

Phones are still on a truck in FL but somehow are supposed to be delivered tomorrow.. If not there goes the $35 activation fee... (they are for relatives and are aware of the potential of having to pay the $35 even a month of service).
Just got an update. It's in Connecticut. I'm in Nj

Hopefully it gets here tomorrow

I already paid the $299 via a suggestion that someone posted a few posts up.

If the phone is activated upon shipping, can't we just call and cancel the line once it ships? Or do we physically need to have the phone and turn it on first to truly activate it?

I'm stuck waiting to order on Saturday since I don't want it to have a day wasted incase it's stuck in transit on Sunday

For some reason when I'm trying to start a return on Walmart website it says this item is not eligible for return. I ordered it two days ago received it today. Weird situation

I called to speak to the automated machine and paid it off.
Then I called to speak to a live rep and canceled the line. At first, she was telling me to disconnect the line from the app, make sure you don't do that as it only disconnects at the end of the billing cycle (at least for me). I told her I want to disconnect today, and she went ahead and did that.
My total bill is $7.12 (for 1 day I think)

What's your sales tax? Because if it's 6% then they sold you a $399 phone financed which wasn't this deal. You may want to look at your finance agreement as this would show the amount financed (299 or 399).
This deal starts on Friday at a Walmart store. Just got out of Walmart and they said its $399.

So they refunded the activation fee as well? Nice
