Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Nah, I learned my lesson last year. Similar slickdeal for the 13, the walmart.com online system was wacky, the online contract I signed said the correct deal price, but I didn't save or screenshot it, and the contract that showed up on my verizon account online was totally different and for full price. I had receipts showing the agreed upon deal price, but it didn't matter. Months of arguing with both walmart and verizon ensued, each one pointing the blame at the other, many false promises, and finally I gave up. I should have returned it from the beginning, mistakes were made.

While I wait for the phone to arrive, I am having second thoughts
This seems to good to be true -

Total Cost for an iphone 14 - 299 + activation (maybe zero if done in 3 days) + service (prorated)

The phone is being subsidized by Verizon on the pretext that they will earn a customer for 36 months.
Isnt the 36 months of service tied to the phone being so cheap. I am worried that a 400-500 $ will show up one fine day

The terms for the wireless contact is vague at best. Does the price include Verizon's fees?

there was no trick for me. i did find it odd, it couldnt verify my pin, but then let me say pay off my deivce, and it let me do that. lol. you may have to go into corporate store and pay cash for the device.im not an expert in any of this. its an easy squeeze so far, only 1 hour or so of time all things said. only repeating what has been said many times in this thread and the other threads on other models.
Are you an existing member? I registered and tried to add the number but it asks for the zip code and pin for verification. Not sure where I'm suppose to get the pin

Didn't it ask you for a pin when you ordered the phone at Walmart?

The device contract is not attached to my new Verizon account, and hence there is nothing to pay off as well it shows me I'm good to trade it already. Now I want to cancel the line and let's say it is processed. What could be the implications on the device? Can someone advise?

Buyers beware! here's the AT&T unlocking policy:https://www.att.com/legal/modal/i...58553.html
According to the policy "Your service must be active for at least 60 days with no past due or unpaid balance"
So you need an active service for 60 days and can't just cancel the line in 3 days!
Don't believe everything you're told here ! read the policy!

You're supposed to transfer the eSIM from the new iPhone in this deal to an unlocked iPhone not the other way around. But you're supposed to make sure to make a call so it registers on your account (you can check online after making a call or two). Then you transfer the eSIM to the unlocked iPhone and make a calm or two to make sure it registers on the account.
I really appreciate your help. Just to make sure I do everything correctly:
0)pay off the locked att iPhone
1) I activate the new locked phone and make a call and make sure it's registered in the myatt portal.
2) I will use an unlocked I phone and swap the esim from the locked iPhone to the unlocked one!
3)make a call from the unlocked one and make sure it shows on myatt portal
4) request to unlock the phone
Are those steps correct?

I ordered my phone online, it will arrive tomorrow
I wanted to ask if the below steps are correct once I receive my phone
1. Call some number and pay off my device.
2. Cancel my line
When do I request phone to be unlocked? And if they don't agree, will it be unlocked after 60 days automatically while it's lying around with no service? Also can I ship the phone off to another country for my sister before it's unlocked? (She will use it on WiFi )
