Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

it shouldn't as long as you started with verizon. These are flex locked phone so they would lock to the first operator on boot. Do not use MVNO for first boot as that would likely leave your phone locked forever. Once it locks to verizon, then MVNo can be used. Visible refused to work but US mobile worked. So it may be MVNO's decision to allow it to work or not.
Ok sounds like after you active the phone on Verizon and then disconnect line, you are free to use it on a Verizon MVNO (like US-Mobile) and in 60 days it will be opened up to allow other ESIMS besides Verizon or one of their MVNOs?

Yes, that's how it usually works. MVNO does work but some may not allow like Visible refused to do it, perhaps it have strong ties with Verizon as it their own subsidiary.

I suspended the service for 2 months. The total came to $28.
I see. That's smart, keeping the line potentially active continuously for 2 months. Thanks for sharing!

Great answer! But just to clarify, will the phone unlock automatically after 60 days, or is there something else we need to do? If it doesn't unlock after 60 days, who should we contact—T-Mobile or Verizon? And what if T-Mobile refuses to unlock it in the future? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to understand the technical details. Thanks again for your thorough response; I really appreciate it!
did you buy this with tmobile? if yes then follow their official unlock procedure.
In case this was verizon/att phone but you booted with tmobile then this may be a rollercoaster ride as tmobile never had this IMEI activated for them so they would likely not be able to unlock it.

Usually the parent's company network locked phone are compatible with MVNO. So I am using US Mobile verizon based and it worked on verizon locked.
I contacted a USMobile customer agent and received the following message. I was hoping to switch my T-Mobile number to USMobile and use this Verizon locked iPhone, but unfortunately, it didn't work out for me.

******* Unluckily, we don't support carrier-locked phones. You will need to get it unlocked from the point of purchase.

That's what I was thinking. It was purchased through a Walmart offer, activated with Verizon, paid off, and the line was canceled. My question is whether we can boot it with T-Mobile, and if it will automatically unlock after 60 days without any risks if tmobile refuse to unlock?

I am supposed to get this phone delivered tomorrow but FedEx status still shows they are yet to get package from Walmart. Looks like they are back ordered now.

start their free trial line or something to check. I was already using US mobile on another iPhone so I transferred esim from that phone to the new phone. I had to enable 2FA before I could do that but that's all it took me.

If you booted with verizon then it is locked with verizon. Tmobile will not work but only Verizon based MVNO can work outside of Verizon. After 60 days, it should auto unlock and you are good to use with tmobile or any other carrier.

yea, dont talk to agent but just simply try it. if the IMEI is rejected then see if you can follow my method to activate in one iPhone and then transfer esim to another one.

Don't cancel the line before you have a chance to try SIM swap. That only works with an active account. I have done many times successfully in the past with Android phones but unfortunately I can't confirm if this works with iPhone. Perhaps, you should DM the person who did this a few pages back in this thread.

Hey ProudToBeAnIndian,

Firstly, thanks a lot for posting awesome deals and this iPhone 14 deal is awesome too. I needed your help to understand the balance payment process after we disconnected the line and I am doing this for the first time. For me, the last bill(Oct 14, 2024 - Nov 13, 2024) shows around $123 due on 11/11/2024. I purchased the phone on 11/12/2024. The next bill(Nov 20) shows -$63.17.
My questions are -

1. when the next bill comes tomorrow, will the overall price be adjusted i.e., 123 - 63 = 60$.
2. Will the next bill come in mail and I can pay online and be done with all the pending charges?
3. Anything else to consider or take care of?

when i called to disconnect my line, they credited me the next month and did some weird, this months bill and next months bill, but she said they would even out, and my final bill would be around $11. she promised me that the dual month thing is ok, and that it WOULD be fine. i reluctantly said ok. I just checked and it appears my final bill is ready, and it is $0.69. .....woot ...... and it appears, it truly is my final bill.
