Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

For Verizon,
  1. Is there a link I can use to check the unlock countdown?
  2. After disconnect, my line disappear from My Verizon account so I can't see the bill anymore. In that case, how do I check the final bill? The rep said the activation fee would be waived but I don't trust them.

1. If like tracfone then you check on the 61st day by going into your phone settings to see carrier lock has changed to unlocked. Reboot the phone a couple of times and it should show unlocked.
2. You will get an email from Verizon for the bill amount. I would just wait and see.

Verizon phone, paid off and disconnected before getting the phone. It did not activate on Verizon. I signed up for h20 as that worked in the past with an physical sim, swap and att unlock. I was able to load an esim and activate, but now it won't let me transfer the esim to another unlocked phone. Not sure what to do, either work with h20, disconnect the line, and try the att unlock. Probably should have activated with either ATT or Verizon and waited. Any recommendations?
Update: Waited a while and was able to transfer the esim from the new phone to an unlocked phone. I will now request an AT&T unlock. Will report back.

How are people paying off? Wouldn't let me pay online (see a prompt that I have to wait for 30 days), went to the corporate store and they said it shows them that I will have to wait until 11/29 to pay off. So strange!

My phone is on the way arriving tomorrow, I was able to pay it off using the method in the comments.
question is, do I need to wait till it comes before I cancel the Verizon plan, or can I call and cancel it before without it affecting anything?

I added a credit card online, and then called and paid through the automated system, no issues

I didn't do this right at all because when I tried to pay off phone on Verizon they told me that I could only pay off phone after 11/26 when I would be already charged for one month of service. I have no idea what I did wrong , I just returned the phone.

AT&T customer here. Got an 14 256gb in the mail yesterday, paid off yesterday morning, I got it unlocked today and now gonna order a second one on that same line I added for this deal, hopefully it works the same.open the box, make a phone call on the new iphone. Then do the eSIm swap youtself if you have another unlock iPhone with you. once you do transfer the eSim, make a phone call on the unlocked phone. log into MyATT, see if the new unlocked phone show up in your new line. Then request unlock as non ATT member at Att unlock website. Once confirmed it's unlocked just restart the phone and check under settings that it has no sim restrictions and you're good to go.
were you new at&t customer ? I was able to place order for At&t and yet to receive it.

I have done the following:
  • PAID off my iPhone 14
  • Shipped 11/18
  • will getting 11/22
Should I wait to get my phone on 11/22 then turn it on to activate it the phone then cancel the service?
or do it now to waive the $35 activation fee?
As I see some people comment that you should activate the phone then cancel the service.

Please advice what should i do?
Thanks

Hey guys, I think I got a unique situation here. So I bought 2 Verizon phones in total. I opened a new account with the first phone, paid off (so phone #1 is the main line). Then I purchased the second phone as a new line under the that account, it got approved with a new number then I placed the order. Before phone #2 was shipped, I closed the main line phone #1 was on before the 3rd day to avoid activation fee. Now when phone #2 arrived, Verizon could not locate the new line using 2nd phone number, the disconnected main line, or the IMEI as if the phone has never been activated or entered into Verizon's system. How am I suppose to pay off the phone in the case? Looks like the only option is to return the phone back to Walmart to avoid any bad consequence but even that's not possible because it said "Not eligible for return". Like WTF?!?!
