Got my Verizon iPhone today. added a payment method on my new Verizon account.
dialed 8008374966 and provided the new phone number
Said "pay off device" when asked the reason for calling and follow the prompts.
Fully paid the 299$ for the device with Automated system without talking with a live person.

Then called in and spoke to a live person and canceled the line.

Last time a bunch of us did this, I believe we learned that the clock starts ticking for the Verizon 3 day cancellation when the phone ships. Thus it was recommended to only buy in store and not for shipping. I was able to buy in store, create account, call Verizon to pay in full and then cancel all within 24-36 hours.

If you're waiting 3 days for the shipment I don't see you getting out of the activation fee.

Did you add a payment method to your Verizon account?

Yet plenty of people have posted to this thread being new Verizon customers and been able to successfully pay this phone off within days of ordering/getting it.

Yes, payment method add - it is correctly shown up in VZW online account.

When I logged into my Verizon account and went to my devices it showed my new iphone 14 and under it listed $299 remaining payoff balance. If yours is not showing this then you won't be able to pay off the device. Not sure if the information is just delayed or if you just got a free phone.

I had already tried the ATT unlock process several times before I was able to successfully transfer the esim. The unlock site says I'll have to wait 24 hours to request again. Will report back. For H2O (ATT MVNO), had to sign up for a discounted month totaling about $11 to get the esim. The esim got on the new phone and activated just by reporting the new phone's IMEI and EID. No QR or manual steps needed. If this works, it will be better than waiting 60 day for Verizon or ATT. This process worked like a charm last year with the physical $1 H2O sims from Target/BB, as many on here can attest. Hoping for the same magic with the esim-only iPhone 14.
Hi, can you please detail out the H2O steps ? I bought the AT&T 14 model. I paid it off and then ported the number to another older Unlocked iPhone. How do I get the new iPhone 14 unlocked or at least keep it active until 60 days to avoid the exorbitant monthly plan from AT&T ? Thank you.

haha, that would be too good to be true. I was told by the agent it will show up in 2-3 days - but it is obviously not showing up yet.

Thank you very much for your information.

How are you all logging into your Verizon account as new customers? I don't have the newly assigned phone number or the account number to link inside the myVerizon account…which means I don't have the option to pay off the phone before it arrives on 11/21. Do I just have to wait until I receive the phone?

I am a T-Mobile customer and purchased the verizon version with the plan of activating directly to T-Mobile since its flex locked. Was hoping to pay off the device and cancel service before it was delivered

By ported number you mean transferred the SIM? If so, follow the next steps mentioned in the wiki for ATT SIM swap i.e make sure the other iPhone is showing up in the account and then request unlock for the new iPhone as non ATT customer.

Also, like Verizon, ATT policy is also 60 days wait even without an active account, see https://www.att.com/support/artic...KM1262649/

I have followed the Wiki. I'm now at the last two steps. I.e. Get the phone unlocked and then disconnect the line. The problem is that AT&T is not unlocking it now (they want me to have active service for 60 days).
Can I still disconnect the phone service (as it is costume me > $50 /month) ?
Also, what is the H2O trick ? I can't locate the steps. Thank you.

Are you doing it as non customer? What is the message from ATT? If it says 60 days then the iPhone 14 is still associated with the newly opened account.

The H20 trick works just like ATT, it's being an MVNO running on ATT but you needed to activate with H2O first. As you have already activated with ATT that won't apply anymore.

My iphone for sure is already activated on AT&T. Worst case can I cancel the $50 plan (as tomorrow (Wed) is the 3rd day) and just resubmit the unlock request after 60 days ?

Yes, couple of people reported getting phones unlocked after 60 days but then again nothing is for sure with these carriers so you might have to file a FCC complaint after 60 days. That seems to have worked for everyone. Quote this from their policy https://www.att.com/support/artic...KM1262649/

"FYI: Don't have an account with AT&T? You can still unlock an AT&T device once it meets all requirements"
