Gang … wait for sale on Pro, which has latest v5 elevate sensor and (edit) a flashlight.

Otherwise Epix Gen 2 is a solid watch!

Following features are missing in this vs Pro
- ECG
- Skin temp
- Better HR accuracy (whatever that means)
- And, my killer feature, the flashlight / beacon (red beacon is excellent when running in dark and when you need extra light, your flashlight is handy)

I thought this was pro, love my epix 2 42mm pro I got on that walmart price mistake last year. Especially with the fenix 8 being basically the same thing but obnoxiously priced

I switched from evelate 5 back to 4 - almost no difference. Maybe if you are doing sprints youll experience less of the "HR lag" that you sometimes get with a wrist sensor. But if youre doing serious training you should be wearing a HR strap anyway.

ECG - kind of dumb unless you have heart problems

Skin temp - worthless

The flashlight is cool, but the on screen flashlight is good enough for navigating the house in the middle of the night, so good enough for me.

Is this good for running VO2max and stuff? or should I just get a forerunner?

Having had the various versions, I agree to wait for the pro. The dedicated flashlight is a game changer.

I grabbed this when it was $499 and just grabbed this deal. It's returnable in store until February so if a deal on the Pro comes along I'll jump on that.

Some dingus posted this deal on a different site and said it was the pro model. That would have been an insane deal. But I was pretty disappointed to figure out it was not the pro 😆

Not sure what you meant by running VO2max. Most new Garmin watches provide VO2max estimates. If you were talking about HR monitoring while doing VO2max intervals, this watch is no different from forerunner. HR strap is always recommended for intervals as the lag is less when compared to wrist based HR Monitor in smartwatches.

If weight is no issue, I think you can get this vs a forerunner which are lighter with almost the same features.
