All current Tracfone , Straight Talk, Total Wireless, Simple Mobile ONLY operates and activates on the Verizon Network exclusively. That's cause Verizon bought all of them. So any new phone will unlock in 60 days from ALL of them.

This has been your PSA.

$262 otd to California. After reading 25 pages, here's my summary:

1. Use PayPal to get 7.5% back by logging into your PayPal account and search for promos, select StraightTalk. Will take you directly to StraightTalk site. That's what i did.
2. Chase card has 15% promo but caps at $15 discount, based on other users. I do not have Chase.
3. Purchase iPhone 13 with Silver plan. Must be Silver or higher to get $200 phone discount.
4. Do not select autopay to see PayPal payment option.
5. You can ship to different address if you're gifting it. They just need to understand the terms if they plan to unlock and use elsewhere or just stay with StraightTalk.
6. New phone needs to be activated, through StaightTalk online, for 60-day unlock countdown to begin. Phone does not need to be opened/used.
7. After the 30 plan expires, do not purchase another plan. Use it on WiFi or not at all.
8. After 60 days, phone will automatically unlock for any carrier.
9. Text "UNLOCK" to 611611 to confirm/see countdown.
10. Hope all goes well for us all.

You don't need to do anything. It should get unlocked after 60 days. Some rare case it didn't get unlocked, go https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com/wps/portal/ and give the imei (and the phone number you got) and it will let you "reprocess" the unlock request online, if you still can't get it unlocked, you just call the phone number on that web page and they will unlock it for you. With that said, most time it will get unlocked automatically and you don't need to do anything.

All new Tracfone/Straight Talk/Total Wireless phones (even the HSN/QVC bundles) come from same warehouse. This one said label created Indiana but it will fly UPS out of KY when it actually ships, all my others have.

Hi. I normally don't post, so please go easy on me. I bought two phones this morning and was planning on porting over one of my actively used numbers over from Mint. However, I was just in my online account and noticed that you CANNOT request a number transfer pin if your number is locked. I am assuming "number is locked" means "phone is locked".So, yes, the phone will auto-unlock after 60 days with one-month of active service (I did this Total by Verizon).BUT, if you are porting over an actively used number that you are not going to dispose of, I am assuming you would need two months of service. I am not absolutely sure of this port out issue, but I most likely will not be porting in an actively used number now.
I don't know the answer, but would ask you to clarify, and maybe someone else with more knowledge of getting deals could answer. It looks like you are saying that you bought two phones today, online, and for that reason, I am inferring you do not have either of those delivered yet. And when you purchased the phones and the plans, you initiated a port for one of your numbers, one that you actually care about, from Mint.

And even though I'm thinking that you might not have activated your phone and completed the port (because it probably hasn't been delivered yet), it looks like in your post you are describing that you are expecting to be able to initiate a port away from Straight Talk before you complete the port TO Straight Talk? And you are worried that Straight Talk is blocking your number from being ported out, which you may not have fully ported?

I think the FCC protects consumers from having their ports blocked. I'm not saying it doesn't ever happen, but maybe you should first confirm that your port to Straight Talk has completed. Sometimes ports happen within minutes, but not all ports are instantaneous.

$250 for a 4 year old phone is an insanely dumb purchase. Why are people going for this? Trade-in scam?
🤔 $250 for a 4 year old phone or $800+ for a new iPhone 15 or higher that is basically the same thing. Seems straight forward to me…..

Also, FWIW the IP13 has the same processor as the IP14... LITERALLY the exact same (except for one extra GPU core, big woof). Yes, there's other small features too but we are really reaching diminishing returns here with updates

No idea. It's like the Apple crowd are brainwashed into accepting years old devices at high prices.
A moto stylus 2024 was recently $250.
I like the Apple ecosystem much more than Google . The latter has been stealing users gift cards. Why they allow someone to buy a US gift card and redeem it into their account but then block them from actually using it because they happen to live somewhere else at that moment. If they were really honest about it they wouldn't allow redeeming it in the first place. At least then I can give it to someone who would be able to use it.

Thank you for letting me know of the FCC rules. You are correct. I have not received the phones yet as I just ordered them and, yes, I am worried about porting out of ST (not worried about porting in - assuming that will happen if I provide info). However, I did create an account when I bought the phones and I happened to be checking the status of my orders and was scrolling through the my account page.

On the bottom, they have a number transfer pin request section and they spell out the locked number restriction for pin transfer. Considering any phone is locked only for 60 days, I am not sure how this short term lockage would play out for pin transfer.

It's my 1st time with ST. I have also had the number for two decades, so I don't want to risk idling it for a month just to avoid paying an extra month of service. I need to port out of Mint asap so I may just park my real number somewhere else for cheap and just request a new number (less thinking, lower risk).

It sounds like that may be a result of Mint's "number lock" feature, unrelated to SIM-lock. See info about it here …

https://www.mintmobile.com/help/w...mber-lock/

However, I probably wouldn't port a number that I want to keep to them for something like this unless you plan to stick with them for a while. Just get the single month as a random number and let it die.

I believe phone number lock is a security measure to protect you from SIM swap scam. There should be an option your account to unlock it if you locked it in the first place. Otherwise, customer service can help you.

Phone number lock is not the same as phone network lock or SIM carrier lock.

Straight Talk or TracFone refers to this as Line Lock.
