I've got a 360 cam (The X3) and love it. It is definitely geared more towards the "action" crowd, so I don't use it a ton, I sometimes use it with a backpack mount for hiking, or to get big ol' 360 pics at a nice vista or landmark. Other than that I use it with a car mount to get some cool videos on the track. I always look for reasons to use it.

My primary complaint I would say is trying to share a 360 video in the original quality is...an effort. Mostly everything you post gets compressed.

Man this is tempting, haven't had an action cam or 360 cam before, anyone have a prior/similar model's experience they can talk about?

I have this bundle and it's great. The big SD card and extra battery really came in handy during a recent trip. Recommend getting a dive case if you plan to go underwater and an aluminum cage case for the camera.

You can get the latter pretty cheap on Temu, and it's good quality: https://share.temu.com/G9x47QaDKUA

Can send you a couple vids if you want! One thing I didn't mention is, I have not really delved into the actual editing of the videos. The software you get with the cam is pretty powerful, would recommend watching a video on it to see what it can do.

Edit: I just realized it probably makes more sense to watch someone's professionally made videos to get an idea of the cool stuff you can do since mine are just raw 360 footage...hah.

How much better is X4 compared to X3 ?
Seems X3 is also cheaper by $100

I would jump on this is if Matterport supported it, but they still only support the X3

Anyone into these 360 cams, is there a suitable older model 360 cam to target for price?

Have wanted to add one to the top of a SXS, but not sure about how much abuse it will take, or if it would be wiped off considering the currently avalible vulnerable mounting required.

Is there a older model to pick up on eBay with simliar functionality to test the concept of functionality with that is value oriented to look into?
Does anyone make Clear domes to mount a camera inside for protection that is optically transparent to a camera like this? Or possible a better form factor camera to consider?

Watched some YT videos on it a few months back. One of the biggest differences is the battery life and being able to verbally take photos, if I remember correctly.

I've got an x3. I've used it on many hikes and many drives.

I consider it an independent thing from a typical action cam. If you want something to throw around and swim with, I'd get a Go Pro style cam instead. Having two big convex lenses makes these things very prone to scratches and breaks. There are covers for the lenses, but they degrade the video quality and stitching of the images.

If you want to record everything around you so you can change focal points in editing, or to make 3D videos for virtual reality, then this can do that.
