You don't have to switch names anymore.
1. Sign out of Xfinity account before searching.
2. When you enter the address, select you are moving here as a new customer.
3. Once you select the plan, it will give an option to create a new account or login. Login with your existing id.
4. It will create a new account and close the old account on your existing login.
5. You will be charged prorated amount on old account and new account starts right away.
6. Your internet will be on for a while but one day it will stop working.
7. If you owned the modem then you can restart the modem and go through activation process on new login and move old modem over. Else use new rental modem for activation.
8. If you have you mobile lines then you can call them to move the lines to new account.

My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.

I'm so glad I finally got Sonic in my area. I pay $39.99 for around 7Gbps up/down and no cap. Of course that took around $500 for a 10Gbps router, network card, and has to be hardwired. Over WiFi is only around 1-2Gbps up/down even with MLO.

Xfinity constantly f*ks their customer. They probe you every year by rising fee until you break.
Then you just change name on the account and price is cut by 5x

How fast is it to, say, cut off my dad's full price Xfinity service and restore service on my mom's name as a new customer? Same physical address, same physical cable, modem etc.
I did the same way a year ago., there was no downtime for me—it should be seamless!

Once you activate your new account, register your old modem with the new account. If you're using an Xfinity device, wait for the new one to arrive, then remove the old modem, connect the new device, and activate it with your new ID.

You can do this instantaneously. We swap the same owned modem

How does having 2 xfinity mobile lines affect an account transfer? I assume it isn't doable.

after 1.2 TB, do you still get internet but just at a lower rate, or do they cut it off, or do they charge you extra?
You best believe they charge. There's a firm figure for each increment that you go over. I just couldn't tell you what it is anymore. They tried to drop that dinosaur bone on the northeast and we were not having it. That doesn't mean they won't in the future. Comcast is filthy rich and if they really want to be that greedy in the age of cord cutters, then RIP.

They charge $10 for every extra 50gigs capped @$30 which is also the rate they charge for the unlimited data option
Just the gf and I, we get dangerously close to the limit esp if I torrent here and there
I can't imagine how a family with teenagers can stay under this cap

Anyone know what happens if after signing up for autopay from bank account and then then prepay $33 with a credit card just before your bill due date? Does the autopay discount remain or gets taken off ? I know that with FIOS, I can do this with a new debit (Staples purchased no-fee MCGC/VGC nettning 5% through Ink) card and the discount still stays (needs at least $1 to go to stored autopay debit card).
The autopay discount remains.
I pay in advance with Credit cards, sometime with Amex Credit Cards where I found the Amex offer, "Save on your Cable & Internet Bill: Spend $50 or more, get $10 back".

I'm glad it always worked for you but from my experience it depends on the rep you speak to. I asked to connect to the customer loyalty team, got connected to this shit rep who insisted that there will be a 3 month process to get the new account setup. What a pain in the butt talking to their stupid rep, ruined my mood for the day and didnt bother calling again.
