My wife and I have switched accounts for many years every time a deal expires. I started going in store because you get the equipment right away. You will have to constantly replace modems every time you switch but it saves hundreds.
why dont use your own modem? i always call when changing accounts and they are able to switch the modem to new account easily.

That's actually not correct as I have been switching and using the same modem for years. The reason your modem will not work on the new account is because when you canceled you your old account need to ask them to REMOVE our modem Mac from their database. When you try to use it on anther account it won't work because that MAC address is associated with your former account.

Yes, follow the steps listed in earlier posts. You don't need to cancel, follow steps to enroll in this offer and existing account will get cancelled. I did the same.
I just did this but how long after getting the new account does the existing account get canceled? My previous contract is up next month.

Update: I got a call from Xfinity within about 10-15 minutes and they went through the process of closing the old account and setting up the new one.

It says:

"Internet: Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed. Reduced speeds after 300/GB of usage/line."

If you have several streaming services then you could reach 300gb pretty quick. So after that the speed would be reduced. Something to think about.

What modem do you recommend?

Netgear cm1100 or cm1200 are pretty good. Most docsis 3.1 modems will support upto 1.2gbps download speeds.

What if I dont want to activate the mobile line? I have all my lines with Tmobile and dont care about transferring any of them to xfinity. But it's asking for a phone IMEI to activate the mobile line and I dont have one available.

I bought the Hitron CODA56 when there was a sale at around $120 around two months ago. Has been working fine so far. One plus with this for my area is the upload got bumped up to 100Mbps automatically at the lowest tier that I have signed on to.

This is one of the modems approved by xfinity. There's a variation of the Hitron called CODA that's slightly cheaper as well.

I am not able to do this successfully.
I have internet service and the By-the-Gig Mobile line.
When I try to enroll into this in a new account, how do I handle the mobile line? I tried moving my existing line and also creating a new unlimited line, both did not work.
Do I need to close my existing mobile line and then try for this? Appreciate any advice. Thanks.

They called me and asked if I wanted to move existing lines to new account. I ported out for Moto Edge deal and ported in after 30 days for the Bring your own device deal.

Thank you. I really appreciate the reply.
My current Setup: Xfinity Fast Internet + by the Gig line + Own Modem
Would it be benificial for me to close the mobile line first? And then just BYOD? The only reason I have the by the Gig line is to get discount on the internet. However, for the Unlimited BYOD discount - I could potentially move my main phone line.

Also if I have my own modem is that an issue? Will they allow activation on the same modem in the new plan? Do I need to remove the modem from my existing account first?
Thank you!

If I have a rental modem, will I need to exchange it out? If new plan doesnt include equipment, Id likely use my own anyway. So maybe return modem and just activate own modem

I suggest canceling mobile line after switching internet plan. You will have time until end of mobile billing plan to do something about it. But yes, you could, at the same time do BYOD on the new account with different number.

I have my modem as well and no issues with reactivating it on new account.

Correct, you will have to return rental one on old account and activate your own on new one.

Does anyone have a screenshot of the deal? Now comcast charges us both $35 for the internet service and $40 for the mobile.
