Mayhew is a good brand and this is a good deal if these are the only ones you need.
Otherwise you get much better price per tool from buying a larger set of tools like a punch & chisel set.

Also Astro & Tekton both resell sets they buy from USA manufacturers but cover with their own great warranties.

Is this known to happen? Have you seen specific examples of this? I've heard of this with tool batteries, but not much else.

Mayhew basic punches are made in the USA. Typically with companies like this the simpler the product the more likely they will be made here. When soft handles and grips are added it's likely contracted overseas.

I broke a gunsmith punch by knocking out a seized brake caliper retention pin. Yes, I knew it's not supposed to be used for that but I was desperate and diy car repairs can come with hair pulling frustrations. Anywho, this set will do a much better job at automotive repairs and metal work applications.👍 🚗 🔫
