Yes and no. I have the new Samsung AIO version of this LG. If you do smaller more frequent loads, it's neglible. If you do larger loads, yes it takes longer. For me at least, the longer times is offset by other factors:

1) I often don't get a chance to move cloths right after the cycle is done
2) If I completely forgot to move it, I had the stinky cloths issue where I had to rewash it and hope most of the smell disappears
3) I now run large load of clothes at night and wake up to fresh dry clothes

Strong word of advice check if your state currently has a rebate on these (my state is supposed to do so but hasn't yet started it) https://www.energy.gov/save/home-upgrades

Also make sure you religiously clean the various filters on this as there have been reports of All in One units having issues due to lint/etc clogging things (downside of being an early adopter, you're the beta tester of designs)

People hate on these because they're different and they're not for everyone but I've owned this LG for nearly a year.

Plan on ~monthly maintenance: clean refill soap dispensers; wipe with damp cloth or rinse lint vent, door seal, and heat pump radiator fins (carefully, I use a toothbrush); clean out the washer filter, run a tub clean cycle.

Dry garments made mostly with synthetics separate from natural fiber for more even & accurate drying. Some dampness feeling at the end of drying can be shaken off (closed air drying system).

Mostly automated washing & drying, more free space without a separate dryer, my electric bill is noticeably less, and now using the dryer doesn't involve pushing conditioned air out of the home.

These are great for people in an apartment that or area that you can't run 220V and dryer vent. You just need water, 110V and a drain. Expect it to take twice as long as a conventional washer and dryer, but ya, less power and easier to operate. Biggest issue is there's more functions in a single unit. But I've put a few of these in peoples' apartments on the mountain. When you have multiple people sleeping on bunk beds, it's great for saving the little space you have. Those cheap, all-in-one washers with the wring dryer are also an interesting option. They're much cheaper, but you'll need to hang your clothes out to dry.

Why the thumbs down? Most of us don't have experience with these. Those who do have sat for 3 hours waiting, only to see their clothes are still wet. I definitely appreciate the technology when I look at my traditional dryer power bill, but it's a reminder that nothing is without a cost.

All that said, one day I'll probably pull the trigger on at least the dryer only version of this.
If you're waiting for 3 hours and your clothes are still wet then something is wrong. My Samsung aio only takes 2 hours total and everything is dry: clothes, sheets, towels and quilts. Either you're overstuffing or your unit is defective.

People forget to mention that these do not need to be vented outdoors like traditional air driers. Our home has the washer/dryer located near the centerline of the house so the dryer vent was 20+ feet. I was always weary of lint fires. 120v outlet and water drain that is all that's needed. I have the GE profile.

It doesn't take twice as long. My average time before was about 2 hours (hour wash, hour dry) and the aio is damn near the same. The only thing I lose out on is putting clothes in the washer when I'm drying the previous load. But the convenience, energy savings, space saving, and the features and customization options more then make up for it.

So these come with a 120v socket... would a 240v socket give more power and thus better drying capabilities?

This type of machine is the future but remember, if 1 thing breaks, you don't have a washer or dryer. Let them perfect it before diving in head first.

Do you think the Samsung one is significantly better?

I'm having a hard time finding direct comparisons with the 3 new AIO heat pumps that seem to be out right now (GE , Samsung , LG)

If trusting of Costco.com reviews, the Samsung fares better at 4.5 vs the LG at 4.0

Costco has several "Spend & Save" type promotions going on where you get extra discounts on your order if you buy multiple items. Does anybody know what happens with these discounts if you end up returning part of the order?

I have this model from LG directly, the first unit delivered to me was defective (not drying), and it took me 2 month to get it replaced, as no technical knows how it works.
But the second unit is working great, I can just take dry clothes after cycle, and heat pump uses ~2kwh per hour, good enough for a load. Plus the auto dispenser, big improvement for our life.

I have experience with the LG Ventless Washtower w/ Heat Pump. Basically the same thing, but not AIO and runs a 240v. I can tell you, my experience is the exact same with everyone who has the AIO, and dry cycle still only uses 600w/h to 1 kw/h. Confirming it is not better at drying, so not sure why they made it require a 240v outlet. Sometimes, I even regret not going with the AIO and choosing the separate washer and dryer tower instead for the convenience.

And to everyone who trashes on these ventless ones either have something wrong with their machine or don't understand that the "damp" feeling when done drying only feels damp because it's basically still humid inside the drum because there's no vent. Take out the clothes and give it 1 good shake or let it sit outside for a second and it feels bone dry. Very strange, but I can confidently say that I will only be using ventless washer/dryers in the future now.

Trying to understand this. What happens when a washer unit breaks (of a 2 machine setup)? Do people dry the dirty laundry anyway?

i got this last year for black friday and love it. i've had 2 instances of damp/wet clothes the whole time i've had it, which had me concerned at first, but overall it has been smooth sailing and my clothes no longer get mildew smell because i forget to change the cycle.

i paid $2200 total with the stand, delivery, etc. i'd do it again also, though admittedly this is a beyond amazing price.
