it is based on zen 2 that ryzen 3000 was using, 5 years old architecture.

I believe this is the same one Costco has for $380 new. I had this CPU in an Dell that its MB died after 2 years. It was slower than I expected.

The cpu is decent but i would rather get a dell latitude 5300 or 5400 from https://www.dellrefurbished.com/ for the same price when they are on sale. The dell might have a bit slower cpu but they come with backlit keys and usb-c TB ports and two So Dimm slots for RAM upgrade

When this chip was announced in mid 2022 there was a huge shortage of manufacturing capacity and wafers. I think they wanted to reuse some design they already have (steam deck APU) and cut down as much as possible to save on die area.

We no longer have a chip shortage so things should be priced accordingly. I think this is about equivalent to a 4500U.
